Help! Locked out of Signature Cargo Bays

I purchased a 2008 Monaco 45' Signature in South Carolina today and am headed back to Arizona. I can't get a hold of the previous owner and the remote, which opens and locks the cargo bay doors seems to have failed. It will lock and unlock the front door, but not the cargo bays. I used the remote to lock the doors when I left, so it was working. There is no interior switch that I can find to engage the locks.

Does anyone have any idea how to override the remote or engage the locks some other way?

  • StuarT....My door has the remote entry and the outdoor keypad. Basically, you never need keys...just use the keypad. With that in mind and having the system glitch once.....I keep a hidden key available on the coach.

"Executive"....Doesn't yours (Monaco) have a switch near the door so that you can operate the bay doors without having the key fob or having to use the keypad. I'm curious!

My Diplomat didn't have locking bays, which was something I wanted on my next coach. Now that I have it, I usually find myself trying to get into the bays after we've unlocked the front door and put the keys away. Now I'm standing outside with locked doors. :S My new coach has a button just inside the door so I can reach in from outside and lock or unlock them. This may sound lazy, but with bad knees and big ole butt, it's getting harder to run up and down the coach steps unnecessarily. :(
  • Mark, that was it. #2 on the entrance door. I am going to review all this information when I get home and have the time to go over everything.

Going to post a new thread now to solve an AquaHot issue I don't understand.
  • StuartT, to open the bay doors, punch in your code, hitting #1 opens the entrance door, then hit #2 and that will open the bay doors.

    Congrats on your new Signature!

On edit: The only button that we had inside our Dynasty to lock and unlock the bay doors was at the master control panel next to the bed. Since I always had my remote with me, it was not a big deal but it would have been nice to have a button at the entrance door or on the dash.
  • Check fuses in the FRB (Front Run Box) outside under the driver seat. They are marked D/S ACT and P/S ACT for Driver side and Passenger side actuator. That's what Monaco decided to call Bay Door Locks.

    Good Luck :) :)
  • I just got up (slept like a log) for day two, read your posts (thanks everybody) and noted that I only have numbers 1 - 4 plus 'doorbell'. No 9.

Then I tried multiple buttons on the remote, nothing except the front door.

Then I walked over to a bay door to listen more carefully and ""what?". In the dark I had missed that there were key ports on each door and I had the key on the key chain. I'm in!

Still will have to sort out the remote fob issue, but for now I am back in business, and I learned a few things from you guys as well.

Ps. I do have the door combo and it works.

Stand by. I will surely be asking more questions before I make it home.

That could be a function of front end +caster, the more caster the less dead zone between left and right. IMO.
  • From reading your post, I'm not sure if you have the coach remote or not. It appears you do, but it's not working. If that's the case, there are four positions on the remote fob. 1. Open 2. Lock 3. I 4. II. If you press the Open button, the coach opens, Lock and it locks. To OPEN the CARGO doors, you press the OPEN button AND then the II button. If that doesn't work, press the OPEN and then the button marked I on the fob.

If you don't have the key fob, then you will still be able to open the bay doors using the OUTSIDE keyPAD. If you have the keyPAD access code, simply press the code and then hit the #9 on the keypad. If you don't have the keypad access code then you'll have to reset it. Let me know if that's the case, and I'll provide you instructions to reset the keypad..you access that through the passenger side cup holder......Dennis

Congrats on picking a GREAT coach that you'll love. Start now giving your steering inputs a little longer to take affect as it's easy to want to oversteer something that long. With practice you will be impressed with how little steering wheel movement it takes to keep it between the lines.
Hopefully you know the code for the outside key pad as after opening the door with the keypad, press 9 to unlock the bay doors. If you do not have the code I would try pressing 9 when you unlock the front door with the remote... it might work. You can reprogram the key pad code but that will probably take a call to Monaco as I doubt my 04 instructions will work for your 08 system.
Hopefully the locks on the doors are not the common Ch751 key... you should have a key for the bay locks if all else fails.
  • You should have key that works in the bay locks until you can figure out the codes.
  • StuartT....There has to be a switch for the doors. Look very closely at all of the switches just inside the front door on both sides. Especially around the panel near the passenger's seat right side.
