- Teacher_s_PetExplorerWe have two vehicles set up to tow, however we haven't towed the Miata behind our B+ yet. I don't foresee any problems with the switching the Patriot other than the possible physical confines of the Miata driver's foot well. IF the distance between seat and brake pedal is too small, we may have to resort to another type of braking system.

You are talking about the Blue Ox Patriot braking system...After installing the breakaway switch in the new vehicle, it will be the same as placing it in your current vehicle. Max 2 minutes setup.
Agree. 2 minutes - Easy. We just traded our 2003 Ford Sport Trac for a 2014 Ford Flex. After the base plate and wiring installations, we just set the Patriot on the floor and go through the same sequence as before. Works every time.

The Blue Ox instructions are very good, the hardest part I had, was removing the hidden clips that hold the plastic fascia on the CRV. Then 6 bolts to remove the steel bumper and bolt on the base plate. Clip the fascia back on.
For wiring, I ran the wires under the car to separate bulbs and sockets in the blank taillight section. We use the brake in a box, no problem using in another vehicle.
Be advised the base plate is vehicle specific and the only other vehicle it could be transferred to would be another 12, 13 or 14 CRV.

I did that job back when I bought the CR-V. I hope to to sell the CR-V to someone who wants to tow it since it is still in excellent shape. I'll have to go to a different brand vehicle since the new CR-V automatic is not towable. - sch911ExplorerThe OP is talking about the braking system, not the base plate or tow bar!
The Patriot braking system is extremely easy to move car to car. - scrubjaysnestExplorerPiece of cake.

- rgatijnet1Explorer IIII have the Blue Ox Patriot system and once you adjust the height and fasten it to your brake pedal, it goes through a test cycle and that is all there is to it. I guess it took me 10 minutes for the first hook up and now I can install it and have it ready to go in about 2-3 minutes. What I like is the ability to activate it from the dash of the MH and adjust the sensitivity while I drive.

Ken - mikestockExplorerI know I have to go through the whole deal with lights and base plate, just like with the CR-V. Just wasn't too sure about the portability of the Patriot.
