- qtla9111NomadIt is two fold. One group fears retribution for their comments. The other group suffers from some type of embarrassment for admitting they did something wrong, or didn't make a good purchase without researching it, etc.
One missing piece of the puzzle is anonymous polling software. That would change the picture considerably. However, it wouldn't be an advantage for this forum, if you know what I mean. - 93mastercraftExplorer II

Not really... Even though these problems are major, it's been in the shop for over 30 days. Now with paint issues, I will just go ahead and add next week because I doubt much will get done the week of Christmas. I might as well count the next week after that too cause it's new years. :) - GrooverExplorer II" We have talked to a lot of people in the campgrounds about their experiences with dealers and manufacturers. When I bring up RV.net, most are like huh, what's that? I find it interesting too that the ones with the problems know all about RV.NET"
I guess that I am different from most of the people that you run into but I have been on this site for years with few problems of my own. I read everything I could on the Palazzo before making the decision. Unfortunately, I too am having issues with the large slide. My problems are not nearly as dramatic, just wind noise and drafts when travelling. My problem is in getting it fixed. I believe that it will get done, just take about 4 times longer than it should. I told the service center in late October that it probably needed new motors. I was told on Monday that a new motor had been ordered and would be in Wed or Thurs. Today I was told that it finally shipped and will be in next week. I will be lucky if anthing productive happens before the week after. Apparently a dramatic problem gets better service.
I am not ready to throw in the towel yet by any means but I am glad that it is getting fixed under warrentee and during the winter. - jorbill2orExplorer II

Honestly, and I know some or most of you don't want to hear this but IMO the vast majority of RVers DO NOT have problems. That's why there are no class action lawsuits or any other general uproar over RV quality. One thing I've noticed on most forums is that people go to them to get a fix for a problem. Well guess what? If most of a forums userbase consists of people with minor to major problems, you'll get a skewed view of quality on ANY product. Not to say issues don't exist but I tend to put things in perspective. Now I'm a RV newb, my first one was a 5er from Keystone (supposed POS) and yeah it was low end but I only had one problem with it and that was the rear axle brake wire broke. My 09 MH's slide was out of alignment on the bottom by a 1/4" and that was easily fixed. That's it. There was no list of problems that needed to be fixed on either one and quite frankly I would NEVER accept anything with a "list of problems" no matter how minor. In closing, when I talk to owners that don't do forums, they're experiences are in direct contrast to what I read hear so I tend to go lean towards theirs and balance it with what I read here.
Not sure why we don't go after the industry with personal or class action suits.
I agree. We have talked to a lot of people in the campgrounds about their experiences with dealers and manufacturers. When I bring up RV.net, most are like huh, what's that? You know, the Internet, oh yes that... I find it interesting too that the ones with the problems know all about RV.NET. :)
Probably because most of us had a problem and did research on others that might have the same problem or owners group .. thats how I found this forum many years ago now( Aerolite trailer.. a Thor product at the time !! )
. The other 20 couples in the good Sam Rv group we belong to haven't even heard of this forum or have no interest in reading it I mention it and get a blank stare.
Like I posted before take a Thor factory tour and then tour Winebago or Newmar and it will become clear. Personally if i were buying new I wouldn't buy without taking the time to tour the factory .. You can learn a lot! - 93mastercraftExplorer II

I think all of us to a certain extent have become lax to the RV industry. After all, these are luxury items for most, maybe a necessity for others. But this has made us settle and accept what they give us. I think this is one reason why the RV industry is so different in so many ways than other industries especially the auto industry. I know there are way more cars and trucks on the road than RV's, but still, that doesn't make it right.
Isn't funny how Americans are great consumers known for boycotting products and services, calling their local news channel hotline to resolve issues, posting on social networks like Facebook, but when it comes to our rvs, for some unknown reason, we let the industry get away with it. People try to stave off complaints by saying a motorhome is a complicated piece of machinery. I have a 24ft TT, we love the layout, couldn't be happier so far. It has its issues but in terms of construction, it's a piece of &^%#! Americans are famous for suing each other. Not sure why we don't go after the industry with personal or class action suits.
Just like the auto industry, no change will take place until foreign competition is allowed. I found a British motorhome manufacturer who crash tests their products. Let the Brits, Japanese and Chinese in and prices will come down and quality will go up. - 93mastercraftExplorer III think all of us to a certain extent have become lax to the RV industry. I agree. I had a list of more then 20 items that they have fixed. (Bugs worked out) :) But this slide issue is a major problem that is out of the norm. Even if they swap me out for another one, do I expect it to be error free? No. But I will not stand for a major structural or mechanical defect. - toolttimeExplorerNo matter what unit you buy their will be some problems.
