My First towed the dealer did not use Thread lock..Thankfully while doing other work we figured that out and fixed it or... I would rather not think about it.
On the new towed.. Locktite was uses as per BLUE OX's instructions.
I have used Locktite for almost half a century and it is fantastic stuff.. I keep it in stock. - JimM68ExplorerRed locktite.

Every time!
I have to ask, why would you even ask, says to do it, just do it.
BOL, - 2manytoyzExplorerI used it on my previous rig. If you ever need to remove a nut with Locktite, and it isn't wanting to come off with a wrench, simply heat the nut with a small butane torch. You'll see a little smoke when it's hot enough to melt the Locktite, easy to remove at that point.
Great stuff. I've used it on equipment flown in helicopters for almost 20 years. Never had any hardware come loose due to vibration. - GjacExplorer IIII used it to installed the Demco base plate and it is still holding after 10 years.
- supercubExplorerIf you're worried about the bolts coming loose, even though you use Loctite. You can drill the bolt heads and safety wire them. Another thing you can do to see if the bolts are turning (loosening) put a line on the head and continue it to the surface the bolt head is up against. That way if it turns the mark won't be lined up. You can use a felt pen or a little line of paint. Loctite should be sufficient though.
- w4phjExplorerJust installed a Blue OX BX-1126 using red thread lock.
- hersheyExplorerLike said, Blue Ox states to use Red Thread Lock. I've installed four baseplates on my own vehicles and never had a failure or problem. And, I can think of no reason not to use it.
