550 lbs is a lot to load in the back of that CRV!
We have a 105 fresh water tank in our motorhome. We carry a 65 gallon tank with a pump in back of our Honda CRV. For the two of us we fill up about every 3 days to be on the safe side even if the tank is empty or not.. I think doing dishes takes up a lot of water.
We don't drive with a full water tank in back of the Honda. The tank is filled or half way filled at the campground spigot when needed. - HappytravelerExplorer

- Jayco-noslideExplorer40 works for us for around 5+ days if we improvise and take 2 showers each instead of 1 every day. Or, even better use the campground shower and bathroom. We also use jugs, etc. of water for drinking. But for families with teens, forget it after a couple of days. We could do a week with 50 but you have to remember, you're not home.
- IvylogExplorer IIIOP, are you going to answer my question about your budget?
- TenOCNomadYes and No. Tent campers live on a few gallons a day. "Water hogs" use 10 gallons to wash a single plate.
I suggest that boondocking is the best way to see nature. So change your lifestyle and go boondocking. You will discover that you can take a "hospital bath" not a full half hour long shower and enjoy nature. - zigzagrvExplorer

It's just the wife and me and we have a 48 gallon fresh water tank. If I'm very careful not to use any water myself and my wife is as careful as she can be with her water usage, we get about 3 1/2 hours of use before I have to fill up the tank again.
:B Ahhhhh.... love those long hot showers!
We have 55 gallons and easily lasts 5 days.
