Norcold 1200 4 door fridge HELP

Fridge quit and has L1 oP code.
Manual says that this is an open high temp switch and not owner serviceable
Schematic shows it, but it's a real rat's nest back behind the fridge and not much of an access panel for servicing.
Anyone experience this and can lead me to where this overtemp device, might be located?
Quick history, it's been fine an always on, as it was yesterday.
We had a real rain storm here with a lot of short power outages and it was set to AC.
This morning, DW goes out to make ready for a trip tomorrow and finds it beeping with the said code.
Any help would be appreciated and maybe this can even be resolved today, so we won't have to cancel our trip.
  • Well, I may have a rear radiator, but my Norcold woes are way behind me. My "sub standard" Freightliner coach came with a Kitchen Aide :)
  • ours was like that for a month- never got that hot. our ridge was on the entire time

Norcold told me they won't send out the box to the RV owner- you have to go through and authorized repair shop- I agree try the stronger magnet- see the link I posted - it will walk you through it.

You're right, they won't and yes you have to go through the normal PITA routine. As for now, Norcold's authorized mom and pop, behind their house business, here in town, isn't even answering the phone.
I'v been looking over that website and it's excellent info.
I have no problem with supposedly resetting and getting my light to go out, but only for a bit, like 10-20 secs and then it's on and in error again. Can't be truthful, as it was cool back there this morning and after being off for awhile.
Have it bypassed now and will go out to check on things, if it ever quits raining.

    UPDATE...
After posting, I went out and found the problem and it turned out to be the little black box with a printed circuit board inside and the Norcold recall revision that was added back in 2011 by a previous owner. By passed it and it works fine, so need to find a replacement and it could also be the sensor itself that feeds info to the board. Before I call Norcold and if anyone knows of a source, I like knowing about it, but who knows, it could be a freebee from Norcold, anyway. I've looked on both Amazon and eBay so far, to no avail.
I did try the magnet routine and maybe it just wasn't strong enough, so will give that one another go. Is the red LED supposed to be on or off and it's been doing both, as well as being on, when I found it in error this morning?
    Thanks to all...

Norcold has the boxes, no charge if yours is bad. Use a stronger magnet. after resetting, look into ARP. It could save your frig and your life.

    Terry.

  • https://www.arprv.com/troubleshoot-norcold-recall.php this is what I did when ours went out- if you have the recall kit- it would go out everytime it rained on the fridge side of the camper, I fianlly just bypassed it until I could get it to a dealer for service and verification it was the recall kit
  • If you have the safety mod kit installed, wave a powerful magnet over the the box that the mod installed. Worked for me after a I used a really strong magnet.
