Refrigerator tubing

Good morning to all. Does anyone know how to disconnect the tubing in the back of the refrigerator. The tubing going to my ice maker has cracked and is spraying water everywhere. Thanks

What I need to know is how to disconnect the fittings themselves.

Consider turning off the water supply (valve) to the ice maker. Rip it (ice maker assembly) out of the freezer and put in ice trays.
More room for food...and the ice is made just as fast if not faster.

    my 2 cents

Plus.......I don't trust any water sources when I'm away from home......even tho I have several filters in my system.

Water supply to the Amana is turned off........we buy a bag of ice, dump it in the ice bin and carry water from home for drinking/ coffee/ etc.

    Let's go somewhere y'all.......Ol'Ben

  • Obviously depends on the model of the fridge you're talking about. On the Notsocold 1200LRIM you can access the line from the outside vent cover at the solenoid. I had a shut off valve there for mine. It was that line that caused me to dump the fridge for a residential. The 1/4" line snakes it way to the top of the fridge where it is pressed into the tray that feeds the cube tray. Silicone is used to keep that line in place which on the third failure, I dumped the fridge. To access that line, the fridge must be pulled almost out unless you're really small or have 15' arms. PITA....good luck...Dennis
  • If you look at the outside of your rig and find 2 vented doors where the fridge is you can likely make the repair. If there is only 1 door you must pull the fridge to the inside of the rig to access the line. It's time consuming but not overwhelming pm and I can walk you through it.
    Loving the rv thing. Jw
  • Mine is accessible from the outside. Just remove the outside frig cover and the solenoid and water line are there. The actual valve to cut the supply off is behind the furnace intake on the inside. Just remove the screws and pull the louvers out and there is the water make up valve. I just put all new in mine.
  • If you are talking about replacing the ice maker supply line, you generally have to pull the refrigerator forward part way into the coach then to in from the top or roof vent to work the top.

Yes, a common failure, as the plastic line crystallizes, becomes brittle and cracks.
