Repair Tape
Many have mentioned a repair tape they keep in their tool box for emergency repairs of things like hyd hose, fuel line etc. Don't remember and can't find in search of "repair tape" what the brand nam...

I think you're looking for "Rescue Tape". They sell it at a lot of RV shows. It only works when you wrap it around itself as "Mr Wizard" described, like around a pipe. You can't use it in strip like pieces on a flat surface.
