Should I buy it?

Is it what you want? Or are you interested because it's what is available?
If you were interested in this model prior to it being available buy it. If this model was not on your radar but you are interested because it is a bargain stay away.
Don't get me wrong a 15 year old RV can be a decent unit. However you have to have the mentality and be up for the challenges of a 15 year old rig.

I'm looking at a 15 year old Country Coach and that doesn't scare me one bit. My current one is 20 years old and would take it anywhere. Mine has never been in a shop and hardley needed anything except for routine maintenance. Mine is also very low mileage about 35k.

As others have said buying something this old will result in a poor relationship with your future in-laws. It sounds like a great deal now but the cost of purchasing new tires, refrigerator, rot repair, lamination problems, engine problems will definitely be huge. By the time you add up what you will pay plus the cost of repairs you will realize that you could have purchased something a lot newer. Even if you spend the money to fix it up like new it will not be worth any more then it is now.

20 year old motorhome and purchasing from a relative. I would not do it. If it is a dud you will either blame the son in law or he will feel bad about it. Would you purchase a 20 year old car? Just think of the problems.

If it looks good and the price is right, id say have a mechanic check it over and then do it. Figure on 2-5 thousand for repairs and upgrades. 6 tires can be pretty expensive so I would check all the date codes on them. Don't go by the treadwear, you must check the dates.
Water damage from leaks is another big thing to look for.

I would caution against buying anything and especially something that old from relatives. Is the price so good that it is almost a gift?

At 33 ft. it is shorter than most school buses and they do urban all the time. It may take a little getting used to but I have driven 45' coaches in downtown Washington D.C. If you have a toad you can take that to the urban settings. Since most CGs are not in cities anyhow a toad is great to have along. It is so much easier to drive my Saturn around at 22mpg than the MH at 7-8 mpg. If you get this I would change all fluids in the engine and brakes, possibly replace the brake hoses as well as engine hoses. My coach is 11 years old and last year I had everything checked for a trip. I feel good to go this year also.

Have it checked out by a good mechanic before you purchase. Unlike some on here will tell you, older doesn't mean bad and newer doesn't mean it is good. I drive a 16. Year old Itasca built by Winnebago and it is totally reliable and gives me no problems, I know plenty of folks that have bought motorhomes nearly new and have broken down. It all depends on the maintenance and care the owners have given it. The older Winnebago will cost far less for new tires than the newer ones but are limited to how much weight you can carry.
