Slide won't go out, 2000. , Intruder. ,fixed!!

i understand as I had coach that required engine off, emergency brake on and driver seat forward. I don't understand why the slides from the same company take so much more or less depending on how you look at it power.

Could also be the control board for all slides. I found mine above the batteries after 1st one slide and then another quit. My board was for all 4 slides and I found it on e bay for $99.00. You can test your Power gear slide out motor easily with some wires run direct from 12v. battery. And yes, you should be able to crank your slide in or out with a 3/4 socket and rachet using the fitting at the back side of the motor,IF your shear pins are intact.

Re: engine running or not.

Some companies put in enough batteries, some do not. Mine did.

Oh, something I glossed over in my earlier post.

IF... you have a 3/4" nut on the end of the shaft (It will be on the "Outside" end of a gear. Then if you have motor or transmiossion failure you can use a ratchet wrench.

But I'm guessing you sheared pins. if you have sheared pins this nut and wrench will only move one end (the end it's on) They should put one on each end :).

Interesting that with slides that are both power gear but different manufacturer of coach mine requires engine running and yours requires it be off. I am sure there is an explanation but I don't have it. On mine I know they take a lot of juice and all three would not go out if engine was not supplying power.

Just another thing to think about. On my 2000 damon Intruder, the main slide will not move if the engine is running. Saftey feature.

I am typing this from the main slide out on a 2005 Damon Intruder... I will make an assumption here, you have the same slide out I have, a Power Gear Rack & Pinion system. This comes with a slide lock rod that goes in the front when on the road.

First, Remove the lock bar

now, open the basement compartments below the slide, Epically the one under the MIDDLE of the slide..Look at the top of the compartment for a portal.. Unscrew the round plug and, Well I just stored mine

Reach up and you should feel the end of the motor, on the end, under the rubber cap you should feel a lever.. It does not move far, but it does move, and once moved it stays there... Move it.

Now get two of the biggest assistants you can find and HEAVE (Push the slide out) I can do this myself, but I am 300 pounds.

Once it is out, look at the underside, you should see a pair of toothed rails (RACKS) and where they go into the rig a pair of gears (Pinion gears) these two gears are connnected by square shafts to the motor in the middle, If you are lucky there will be a 3/4" nut (Likely over another portal) on one or the other end.

While watching the shaft have your partner operate the slide out switch, NO MORE THAN ONE SECOND (you do not want to get caught by the slide)

If you see the square shaft move but the gears do not turn.. You have sheared your shear pins.. If the shaft does not move,, See if the pins on the motor/transmission end are sheared.

These pins are quarter inch grade 8 bolts with nylock nuts.

Get the shortest bolt where the smooth, non-threaded, portion of the shank is long enough to go all the way through the square shaft, Get some thick washers and new nylock nuts.

That should get it moving again.

now the hard part.. Lining it up... I hope you can figure out how to do that. But if it's the shear pins, Let me knwo.


If it is Not the shear pins, then it will remain lined up with no problems.

It's level. The bedroom slide works. All other 12 volt works.

Well, battery is fully charged.I guess I have a slide problem to fix.
Has anyone worked on the large slide, on a 2000, Damon, Intruder.
Any help will a great help.
