Tire Pressure Monitoring System for Toad

After 15 years of trouble-free Toad towing, the right front tire on my Toad went flat and completely shredded before a passerby alerted me to the tire issue. It must have been flat for a long time as it deeply marred the outside of the fender, knocked off the plastic housing on the driver's side mirror and damaged the wheel well. I had no indication of anything wrong while driving on mostly secondary roads for about a 2-hour period.
I see a few posts of TPMS for RV's but didn't note any for Toads.
Any recommendations for a good quality TPMS that will alert me in the future of Toad tire issues. I will be in the Cocoa and Jacksonville Florida areas for the next week or two.
Thanks
  • Do the remote TPMS sensors work when attached to the valves on a vehicle that already has the factory TPMS system?
  • Any one of them should be fine. They don't care what the tires are on.
  • It's the same tire monitoring system as you'd have on your RV, just extra sensors to put on the Toad. Or if you only want them on the Toad, you just get the system with 4 sensors and then later, if you want to add to it for the RV, just do it.

I had the same thing happen where I had a front tire on my Jeep blow and I never knew it. I went about 10 miles before a passerby flagged me. Fortunately, it did no damage, not even to the rim. I think the tow bar and the three remaining wheels were enough to keep the Jeep balanced and the rim up enough to not even have damage to that. I know the distance, because on my way back a few hours later driving the Toad (I was dropping off my motorhome for some service) I saw my "road gators" laying on the freeway. I had not heard, anything, felt anything, and nothing was visible via the camera on the back the RV looking at the Jeep. That's when I got my first TPMS.
  • Frankly I have read good things about every system available. I went with the TST system because I looked at the site and saw the set up was super simple. Anyway I believe all the systems available will monitor the coach tires as well as toad providing you order enough sensors.
