Capital One, Visa. You can use these everywhere. Credit Cards provide more safety protection than Debit Cards as far as getting hacked. I don't need anyone draining my bank account. Pay in full each month and they are "Free"
actually,a debit card when used as a credit card has the same fraud protection as a credit card.
Not true about a debit card that also can be used as a credit card when it comes to deductions out of your account. There is absolutely NO protection like a credit card where you can dispute the charge.
I bought one thing on line in my life and they took my info and later used my information and "auto" debited my account with out my knowledge. I was checking my account and watched while they debited 89.64 every 20 minutes! :E
I called the bank and they said they could NOT do anything because it was an auto debit which means I MUST have given them permission because that is the only way an auto debit is done. :E:E
Took me an hour on the phone with local and national bank managers making them watch the auto debit being taken out over and over again before they finally believed me that I most certainly did NOT authorize that many debits. and they put my money back in my account.
THEN just last month U-Haul double debited my account for a storage unit. Using my debit card as a credit card and authorized for one time per month they hit my account twice in one month. My Bank would NOT do anything about the double debit because it is a debit card. :( - Dutch_12078Explorer II

I have had pumps cutoff at $100 and refuse the second swipe for my fillup with my Pen Fed Platinum. To expedite I use my second card AARP Rewards Visa via Chase. It covers fuel and restaurants at 3% each and 1% everywhere else. My Pen Fed Platinum Visa gives 5 points on fuel and 3 points on groceries. 5 points equals 4.25% and 3 points equals 2.55% and 1 point equals .85% with Pen Fed. Picky I know but points should always be a dead giveaway on Rewards.
And that's why we have PenFed's Visa Cash Rewards Card. We get the full 5%, 3%, and 1% deducted from our balance every month. ;) - bobkatmsuExplorerOh, and thank you everyone for all the great information
- bobkatmsuExplorerI have had my credit card compromised several times. Each time the card company called me and asked what places I had used it that day. They figured out the place or places it was used by someone else and started their investigation from there. They canceled my card and sent me a new one immediately and I was never charged a penny for any of the fraudulent charges.

I have all kinds of text alerts on my accounts. I can, and do, check my bank balances almost daily when on the road.
a cash transfer to a new account can happen pretty fast.So by the time you realize - looking at a statement for example - the damage is done. Unless you look at your statements hourly.
I didn't know a cash transfer to a new account could be done simply with a card. I can do that online, but it takes secret questions and there are limits.

I can't imagine how much interest this has saved us over the years!
No, never again... no "True" credit cards to get swallowed up in the bottomless interest abyss ever again!
If you pay it off in full every month you won't have any interest and you'll even make money on it with cash back which can add up to close to $1,000 for us each year.
Live on what you can afford to dole out each month.
Exactly, we use our Discover for everything. Gas, food, restaurants, everything. Pay it off every month so no interest but a ton of rewards. Free money. - 2gypsies1Explorer III
