I tried changing mine once myself. Had to factor in the cost of a new shirt, new pants, and a bag of kitty litter into the total cost.
Like I stated I was just saying as we have a large farm shop so changing oil is not a big deal, plus my work clothes are usually not to tidy also! But when I work on my motor home I take a change of clothes to the shop as my wife won't be happy with me driving the coach with my shop clothes! Also the C7 Cat only hold a little more than 5 gallons of oil and the filter from Cat is $15.50.;) - msmith1199Explorer II

We spent three years on the road while DW did the travel nurse thing. 13 weeks at a location, then move to another and 13 weeks there.
We started out with a 27 foot Class a gasser. LOUSY floor plan!
then we traded up to a 32 foot rear bedroom Class A gasser. It was very nice.
Then, after about a year of that, we had an opportunity to live in a 32 foot triple slide fifth wheel with a built in washer/dryer.
How wonderful it was! Plenty of room, warm in the snow and cool in the heat. I strongly recommend a fifth wheel!
I got a Dodge Ram 3500 CTD to tow it, and for the last two years it was great. The one ton dually wasn't all that difficult to use as a daily driver.
DW was licensed in MT, WA, and CA, and we circulated between those states.
EDIT: Note that if you accept contracts in CA, the hospital will deduct CA income tax, and you WILL have to file a CA tax return to get your money back. The same goes for MT. I don't know about ID.
I'm going to guess here, but I would bet most states with a state income tax would do the same. I know California, and I think others, also hit up pro-athletes for California income taxes for the time spent playing games in California. The LPGA I think only has one event now in California and the PGA only has a few. I'm wondering if California income tax had something to do with that? - msmith1199Explorer II

Diesel, more expensive to purchase and repair. More power, drive nicer.
Gas - Cheaper, cheaper to repair. Don't drive as nice as most diesel pushers. Gas pushers are hard to find but out there.
I think it comes down to your bank account, how much you will use it and how much drive time behind the wheel. Short distance trips and little use you are probably better off with a gas. The more you use it and drive it then diesel may be the best option.
As far as floor plan, I am sure you can find one that fits your needs in either model. - bluwtr49Explorer IIThe difference between a gasser fueling at 3.19/gallon and a DP fueling at 4.00/gallon over a 6,000 mile 4 month trip would come to about $100.00/month even if both got the same fuel economy...which is unlikely.
Not enough difference to even consider. The advantageous of a DP are well worth the $$$ and also considering the 1,000+ mile range of a DP to me it's a no brainer. Even the routine maintenance need to be looked at as the difference in costs since you will one one or the other. Oil change on a DP is what....perhaps $75.00 more???? - kab449Explorer

Be sure to check out a gas Tiffin Allegro 36 LA floor plan. Could not be happier and had not planned on an A class till we saw this one.
More useful outside storage than many DP's
I'll second that. I just thought I needed a diesel until I saw this floor plan at the Hershey show. - tinkererExplorerIt cost me $85.00 to change the oil on my diesel pusher. Just saying.;)
