- azdryheatExplorerIt's not about the app or the kiosk, it's about having a game plane for idiot cities and states that raise the minimum wage to outrageous levels like $15 an hour. McD's plans to layoff as many humans as possible and the app and kiosk is the game plan for when that happens.

Get used to it because there are huge changes coming. Waymo/Google is on the verge of finishing up with their autonomus vehicles in Phoenix. They converter thousands of Chrysler Pacificas. Kroger hooked up with someone to run a small van type vehicle which can bring your groceries or run over to your friends house and bring you the cell phone you forgot. Their minimum charge is $5.95 If figure you'd spend $3 or $4 dollars for fuel and your own vehicle it's not all that bad. I was filthy and sweating while wrenching on my truck when of course I needed a different socket. I would have paid $20 just to bring the dang thing to me.
My question about the whole autonomus vehicle thing was how do they keep it clean because someone could have barfed in it or urinated on the seat or took their flea bag dog to the vet. I then ran into an interview on Youtube where the guy said that a big market is going to be in interiors. They plan on making them with easily replacable recyclable interiors that they can quickly strip out. They will also contract with companies who clean the vehicles at some interval yet I have my doubts about the whole thing because they will have thousands of people going through these vehicles as they run 24/7.
I can see Uber with a driver in their own vehicle keeping things in order but I'd want to see the true autons work for awhile. Everyone isnt like us old timers and I understand many youngsters dont even get a drivers lic. They dont dream about getting a car and parking with the girlfriend, they just bring her home now. Well, the auton will drop her off and take home.....
No, this is not true. The "true" autonomous vehicle is likely at least 5 years out. There are just too many things that will cause the "auto" auto to fail with the current technology.
Ok well, you better get ahold of them and tell them to stop. :)

Yep and they can have their **** kiosk and pay by phone ****... :) I have nieces and nephews that age and they are so into their "tech", they don't know what life is about.. Can't even talk to them if you don't do it via social media.. So much for that.. They can have it.. I'll still go to the counter! ha, ha!

I went in to a McD for the 2 for $5 thing and no one at the counter (even at 12:00 pm) and the nice early 20 something gal says I can take your order here at the kiosk.. Well I say I want the 2 for $5 deal and a small fry.. Takes her about 2 minutes to scroll thru all the screens to get the order done..
Still no one at the counter....
Then she asks how do you want to pay.. I say CASH... So she prints out a receipt and then says I have to go to the freaking COUNTER to pay...
"Why couldn't I just order at the counter and pay cash instead of using that dumb kiosk thing?" I ask... The response was "Well, most people only pay by debit card or use their phone to pay"... I said, "do you see how old I am? I don't do that stuff.. Yes, I have a 'smart phone', but I don't use it to buy stuff with".. She gave me a quirky look and just rang up my order and I paid in CASH...
Ugh... I'm not even that freaking old... 55 I like the new tech just as much as the next old guy... But, I won't transact financial business over my **** phone... Sorry..
You lose that phone and just count your bank account drained... You have a "password" on that phone... Ha, ha... :)

Yeah, if you don't have to wait behind 8 other people, ones who don't know what they want, have huge orders, and don't have their money ready.
Much quicker to say 2 Cheeseburgers to the counter person than to navigate the kiosk/app menu..
It takes time to figure out the kiosk..and the app.. which is always true with new things. People avoid that.
This has been my experience, I prefer the kiosk. I just stop by to get a large iced tea to neutralize the benefit of the calories I burn when I walk. :) 2oldman wrote:
