- QuirkyObserverExplorerI am sorry; I misspoke. Yes, we do have HD! I get so forgetful of all the details at times. That was partly why we switched from Direct, to get HD.
Thanks for the info, Bill. I guess I understand now why we are getting the whirring noises, but they sure are loud! Especially from inside the motorhome. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIYou SHOULD have HD if you are a Dish customer. All of the Dish programming (including HD) is available from a dome based antenna. Have you done the check switch routine? Did you get the required SW64 after doing the check switch? What receiver are you using?
- QuirkyObserverExplorerOK, I will check. But we are on DISH now. And we hear the dish move sometimes when changing channels. And, of course, we do not have HD.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIYou can go up on the roof and remove the dome. If you see a black GPS puck on a raised platform then you have an in-motion antenna (and I am almost certain that you do). You must be a DirecTV customer or you would hear the antenna move when you change channels as well. Based upon that assumption, you could also simply turn the power switch off once you are locked on as all of the TV programming (SD only) comes from the 101 satellite only.
- QuirkyObserverExplorerAnd if it is in-motion would leaving the power switch on avoid having the searching?
- QuirkyObserverExplorerLife has been so hectic I have not been on ANY forums for quite some time, Bill. I miss it, though. I have been tied up with several projects which take just about all of my "spare" time.
What should I look for on the unit to determine if it is an in-motion? And if it is, what could we do to be able to use in-motion? - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III have not seen you on the Tiffin forum. If you are not there, you should be!
It sounds like you got an in-motion unit (possibly by mistake) as it would do exactly as you describe.
You can check if you want to go up on the remove the dome. - QuirkyObserverExplorerIt is not an in-motion unit. The original unit installed by Tiffin (probably in late 2011) did not do the seeking noise but the current unit was provided as a replacement last October by Winegard because of a different problem.
You bet I do, Bill! The Datastorm has been moved from the original 2006 Itasca Sunrise to a 2012 Phaeton and I use it daily. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIIf this is an in-motion antenna then you need do nothing. The antenna will continue to move when stopped for 6 minutes while waiting for you to get driving. If you aren't driving then it will put itself to sleep. The Mission makes more noise during the search than others due to some heavy duty motor upgrades from earlier models.
Hi Dave, you still use the Datastorm I installed?
