As said by Bill the TV display will only show the antenna when it locks onto a signal.

Perhaps the coax cable disconnected itself?

Just had that problem at home where DW firmly moved the cable to clean an area and pulled it out of the coax connector at the wall.

Took me 30 minutes of rebooting and research to realize it was not an equipment problem. Receiver could not see the "Server"/antenna because coax was disconnected.

There is nothing inside your coach that would let you know it's finding the sat. Any message you may see on the TV is from the receiver and the receiver has no idea what's going on with the dome.
I believe your receiver is the issue. That is not a model number I am familiar with and must either be quite old or not appropriate for this installation. Can you tell us more? Manufacturer name? Is there a card in a slot somewhere is more info? Anything will help but need more info.

OK, I Googled that model number and that does appear to be your problem. That's a really old Samsung receiver and is likely not compatible with your dome. You will want to get a new receiver (D12 if you don't use it at home as it is SD only) or a new HD receiver but it must have a model number of H24 or lower to be compatible.

I hear you but it worked before. Why would it stop? I can try a newer receiver we have here in the house . Will report back later tomorrow eve. (Day is all booked up tomorrow )

I installed a Roadtrip In Motion dome and use DTV.

I also move the receiver between the house and the MH.

On the last trip, I had the coax connections screwed up initially, so the receiver could not "see" the antenna. Connecting the wires correctly made everything work great, as it should. :R

Be sure the coax from the Dome is attached to Sat IN on your receiver or that your Video Switcher box is wired correctly.

I'm a Dish Network subscriber with an older Winegard in motion dish on the roof and and a Winegard Carryout and ran into a similar problem this past summer that turnout to be the receiver. The antennas would search and search and search but never lock in on any satellites. Either the RF from the receiver was attenuated or the digital commands were the problem. Don't know which but a replacement receiver off eBay fixed it. The reciever cost less than 1 hour of labor at a service center.

I've had my dome open with both antennas several times just to check out what is in there and what the antenna does during a search. If there's something that can be adjusted I didn't see it.

The model on the receiver is SIR S300W. I went into the setup, slected dish type round (there was no option for 18" - just round), I made sure the zip code was correct. I did not see anything that said multi switch setting. Turned the dish on, I could hear it "sweeping" but again finding satellites failed. Usually when it finds it and downloads the data I can hear the dome making sort of a spinning noise. I haven't heard that in a while. I called the dealer and I was wrong or perhaps mis heard. They did not do anything mechanical. Not sure what to do at this point.

The Winegard dome that you have will make a grinding noise every time you power it on as it does a calibration routine. You are really just hearing a clutch slipping on the motors and the antenna hits it's limits.
The Winegard dome consists of the Dome itself and the on/off switch only. There are no other components. You then connect your DirecTV satellite receiver to the coax cable coming from the dome. The receiver must be connected and you must run through the Repeat Satellite Setup routine for it to work in the RV. You need to look at the back or bottom of the receiver to see what model number receiver you have. When you go into the setup routine, try using the 18" round and multi-switch setting.

Not sure the model receiver, it's an older (dark grey model). Yes it can be used at home or in the RV. I have noticed when the dome is trying to find the signal there was a new noise, almost like a grinding or slipping of the belt. Is this possible and could cause the issue? I have done the set up routine. I have called DTV to ensure the reciever can accept a signal and tested it in the house. I am at a loss at this point. The dealer seems to know how to fix it but I'd rather not spend another $100. Originally I thought it was the small black receiver (forget what it's called (DNS??)) but they said no.

Yes, but this is not an adjustment. Remove the dome and operate the system. Watch the lower belt drive and you can see if it slips or jumps. There is a washer type screw that holds the belt system in place to the motor and if that comes loose or strips out, the belt will slip or come off. Newer Winegards will lock onto the Sat with NO receiver connected. The receiver is just to send the 13/18 volt signal to download the channels. Doug

I had a gear driven dome, KVH Trackvision that wore out the ring gear eventually. It was about 8 years old. I ended up replacing it with a Trav'ler. You may have to take a look under the dome and see if everything looks alright.
