Best way to find hookups or parks

Hi everyone. I am so new at this that we haven't purchased our RV yet. We have been looking and searching for the perfect model in our price range for long term living possibly a year or more. My husband and I run a consulting company for the oil and gas field. We are making a move to north Colorado to better run the business and to be closer for our family. We don't want to sell our home and jump into purchasing something we won't want in a year or rent a home that fills another persons pocket when we can purchase an RV and use it.

My question for today is how or what is the best way to find a park or motel with hookups? Are there certain ways to search that are better than others? Or do you just do a generalized search on the internet for the area you are wishing to take your RV?

Thanks in advance for answering my somewhat silly question.

  • You might also try allstays.net. They also have a low cost smartphone app. Either way you can search and filter for what you want/need.

Woodlalls is another to check out. And this site also has a section devoted to parks and resorts.

    Best of luck.
  • Don't know if there is a BEST way, since we each have different needs. We have lots of dogs, so we will often go through "DogFriendly.com" to narrow down our search.

Probably one of the best on-line sources is RVParkReviews.com, which has the CGs reviewed by fellow campers. You'll see some that have 10-stars from one person, and 2 stars from someone else, so you need to read the reviews to see if they apply to you. They will also have the CG website, and other information.

You may also be interested in one of the Discount Clubs like Good Sam, which will give you a discount at many CGs, or go with the 50% discount like Passport America, but you have to stay at one of their associated CGs, and they may not be where you want to camp.

You can also get the Woodson's Guide at places like Walmart, if you'd like book form to look through.

    Good luck:)
  • I've never seen a motel with hookups. Not saying they aren't out there, but I've never seen one.

Just do a search. Go to google and type in Colorado campgrounds or Colorado rv parks. Or go to places like good SAMs website or woodalls.com. There many places online listing campgrounds and rv parks. Or you can go to the forum area for rv parks and ask the same question for the exact area of Colorado. Someone will probably recommend a place. And don't forget about rvparkreviews.com.
