I ? the bleach product. Some plastic and bleach do not get along. At home and in the RV. My manuals say to avoid bleach products.
As for the other cleaning product. Sounds OK. Much better than ice cubes.
So you don't sanitize your fresh water tank/plumbing lines?
The waste tanks and drain lines are just like the drain lines in your S&B....same stuff.
And we're not talking straight bleach.it is highly diluted.
No I do not sanitize my waste tanks. I never sanitized my septic tank when we had one either.
As for fresh water. I use a filter to fill the tank. City water system has enough chemicals in it now. - EsoxLuciusExplorerWhy do it if you don't have to? Yes, detergent is a pollutant, and wonderful Calgon water softener is too. Bleach is a poison. They are intended for getting clothes clean, soft and bright in a washing machine, not maintenance of a RV black water system. Why do you think the Clean Water Act was enacted? Why do you think every municipal wastewater treatment plant in the country has systems to remove those constituent pollutants from the wastewater going down the pipe. Love to pollute do you, or are you just ignorant?

The GEO Method may work, but it involves unnecessary use of three products, two of which, at best, are pollutants and the other is poison that harms some plastics and kills beneficial bacteria, and uses more water than necessary.
The use of Happy Camper on the other hand involves a combination of natural minerals and micronutrients. The minerals act as a lubricant, facilitating dumping and keeping sensors clear. The micronutrients include aerobic bacteria that breaks down waste and kills anaerobic bacteria, the cause of foul black water tank odor. Just one ounce (about 70 cents) per 40 gallons of black water tank capacity dissolved into two gallons of water poured into an empty black water tank, the normal amount of water used with the toilet and bathroom sink, and dumping when at least half full is all that is necessary to maintain a healthy black water system.
Huh...so powdered water softener, detergent, and bleach are pollutants and poisons, and Happy Camper is the ticket.
So I guess if you reverse that logic I should use Happy Camper to do my laundry so I don't put pollutants and poisons in the sewer. :) - EsoxLuciusExplorerThe GEO Method may work, but it involves unnecessary use of three products, two of which, at best, are pollutants and the other is poison that harms some plastics and kills beneficial bacteria, and uses more water than necessary.

What it does is create a slick surface on tank bottom & sides.
Stuff doesn't stick so it slides out easier, doesn't pile up and dry out so the smell factor is minimized.
That's why it is a combination of products.....water softener (slick factor), dishsoap (scrub factor) & bleach (sanitize factor)
It does work.....
I just choose to use water and good dump methods.
Storage space is a premium when you FT so I only carry the basic essentials......extra chemicals for waste tank is NOT on that list. - rvtenExplorerDoes it make the poop softer or smell better?
