- mlts22Explorer III've been using the Geo method myself, although I tend to use handwishing dish soap as opposed to Calgon. The true test is if you can keep your toilet valve open with the fan on in the bathroom and smell nothing foul.
- campn4walleyeExplorerWe've used the geo method since buying our TC (new) and we've not had any odors, even in hot weather. Our sensors are working perfectly as well. Quite different from using the chemicals in our previous 5er.
But, there is another difference that helps. We do add more water than we used to. After washing dishes, I dump the water in the black tank. Works like a charm and reuses the water to help fill the black tank, which is a component of the geo method.
I got that trick from the Tips, tricks and gizmos thread.
Look for powdered Calgon at your local farm and fleet store. That's where we get ours. - wny_pat1ExplorerGeo Method works. Keeps toilet paper from sticking to side of tanks, so the sensors work better.
- _DJ_1Explorer III've heard baby oil in the holding tanks keeps the sides clean (so the gauges work) and keeps the seals soft. Sounds reasonable but I haven't tried it.

Have you ever had a build-up of fabric softener on your clothes from washing? especially towels? Think of what kind of goo would form with constant use in your tank! That stuff needs lots of agitation to get rid of it and it's not going to get it sitting in a tank. We use water. That's it....and no problems in 17 years of full-timing.
Geo Method works.
No need for..... "constant use in your tank"..:R
Maybe every 3 or 4 months.
The "lots of agitation" is driving down the road with it in the tank.
Lots of water *is* a key component..:C
BTW - Powdered Calgon is very difficult (if not impossible) to find.
Liquid Calgon in detergent aisle/s is easy to find.
Big attaboys (and/or girls) for whatever your method is, to keep you happily flushed and drained..:W

- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIHere is an article that will fill you in on the Geo Method.......LINK
It does work
I just choose to NOT get all that involved in waste holding tank cleaning.
Dump/flush-rinse/some water back in......done.
I'll be dumping them again in a week. - WoodGlueExplorerWhatta mean "start rinsing my clothes in the tank" - I already do that! Wash & rinse! LOL

- powderman426ExplorerWhen I start rinsing my clothes in the tank, I'll try that. Till then I see it as a waste of money. Same goes for toilet chemicals. Its only a holding tank.
