The 2.7 won't hold the empty truck back. Other that that it's a great truck. I don't see how the 3.5 could do much better. Unless like some of the other Fords, it uses the service brakes.

I have 2 3.5 ecos an 11 and an 18 and they have both held back my 7200lb trailer with extreme ease...not sure where you are getting your info that it won't even hold an empty truck back?!? As I have over 80000 miles towing that 7200lb trailer with both trucks now all through the Appalachians. Have you or do you own a 3.5? If not how can you say what you did?!?!

Freeway or city?

I have a friend with a 5.3, gets 14-16 city, 22-23 on freeway.

Sons rented a 4.3, got 18-20 city, 24.x on freeway. Im only pulling my 6k equipment trailers, having a hard time thing a 4.3 with more HP, better torque to rear wheels will pull equal to my Vortec 350 which does better thamy tbi or 4bbl 454's.

I'm sure a 7sp 2.7EB will do as good or better too. Especially if one is at 6-10k elevation with the turbo. Only issue with Frod is suspension.

Why not go with the 3.5 instead?

^ I will say the 2019 5.3 8speed Silverado I had for a while did great on fuel as well. IIRC, it was averaging 17-18mpg, compared to 15-16 in my 2016 6 speed Silvy.
What speeds you drive to average that mileage?

5.3/8speed or 6.2/10speed?

How is this number, Marty? Two adults and 200 pounds or so of stuff. Bishop to LA.

Big Walker Mountain IIRC. Very reminiscent of Rocky Mountains in Colorado without as many tight turns.

A 350 HP twin turbo lawnmower engine......wish I had one of these for my mowers in my 35+ year career in landscape maintenance industry. The damage I could do to a person's lawn....such fun!
