Eh both my 3.5 so called lawn mower engines hold my 7200lb trailer back very well all through the Appalachians in Pa Wv Va and NC usually only tap the brakes twice on the 6 mile 1700ft decent on 77 through the Blue ridge mountains it holds at 55 with no problem whatsoever...if the 2.7 is like the 3.5 in that aspect I don't see an issue...where I see one is possibly the trucks GVWR and wheelbase for that longer trailer.

What is your trucks GVWR and payload rating? What is the wheelbase of the truck? Is it a crew cab short bed? long bed? Let us know...

Payload always rears its ugly head with 150/1500 series trucks.

That is good to know. BUT, many folks don't realize the power requirements of said box! I needed 30hp less to move my 18k rig with a bobcat on a trailer, than I did with a 6500-7000 lb TT in tow at 15k total. Their is 20sq ft of frontal area difference. That is power needs!

I would imagine ANY of the current motors in 15 series trucks with 250-300+HP will move a 6-7000 lb TT. Especially those that are turbo'd. I'm thinking for my needs towing a 6k trailer with a mini excavator, the 2.7 eco or GM with a 4.3. then I should get decent fuel economy when empty. Lose s bit to slot towing as should be expected.

With a 350/400 HP/torque motor, 10 gears in trans. Power train is not the issue.
Suspension IMHO will be. Ford does rate this motor to iirc 9000 lbs. I personally prefer to not tow anything over 2x the GRAWR of tow rig. If it were a GM, they have a 3950 RA. I believe Ford's are a bit less. Doable, at my limit.
With this said, I too am curious on this setup. As I am looking to downsize to a 15 series truck.

I mean, it ain't going to be 6400lbs and it could be 7600 lbs easily, heck, let's say he has a rock collection and its 8klbs. Who cares....That's like 1600 lbs. Not a huge difference, but when you compare it to at least 7000lbs which the OP should be given credit to at least know he's going to add water, gear, beer and groceries to his camper.

Can you say what makes it apparently unsafe to you for the OP to tow a 3-4 ton camper with a new F150?

Be specific. With your great wisdom and experience that is surely backing up your succinct and definitive assertions, surely, there's something the rest of the world is overlooking when they hook up their similar trailers every day and safely make it to their destinations repeatedly, without issue.
