- ol_Bombero-JCExplorer"JJBIRISH" - glad to see you took your bat, mitt, ball and packed it in!.:C
You *ARE* the biggest nitpicker that walked the earth - errrr.. forums!.:R
Your prerogative, of course..... as well as everyone else's.
Including their choice of ERS providers.
BTW - from *my* post a few back -
The most reliable Motor Club is "Dead Presidents" or a CC.
*NO* CONTRACTS !!- - whoopee!.:S
If you can't stand the heat (or the bucks) just keep on dissecting those contracts.
BTW - kinda like "Fast Eagle" and ST tires - you must be kinfolk, LOL!

I had the brochure with the plan choices, and yes it has all the sizzle but none of the meat … I also have the brochure that is the contract for their platinum plan… it just isn’t the latest one but from what I can gather it’s the same with maybe some additional service added…
Look you have it, your happy with it, and I am glad you are happy with it…
I am not suggesting you get rid of it, I am only suggesting those looking to become really informed, and pick anyone they want, not who I want…
I switched to CN because of all of the rave reviews they get… I just wish one person had said what I am saying now when I asked if they were better… but no one did and no one will yet today… I got the same fluff from others that in most cases have never read the contract either… they are one of those companies you are not allowed to talk ill about… so I won’t bother you or ruffle your feathers any more…
it’s funny all the supporters and no one comes on and says what in their contract is better or why it’s better… not what they heard is better… and now I am head slapping…
OK CN IS THE GREATEST ERS… if that’s what you want to hear… they have many satisfied members…
but read and compare, not for me, for yourself…
anyway I am out of here… I have no intention to berate them, only to compare them… but if someone has a link to their official contract I would love for you to pass it on to me…
thanks… - JJBIRISHExplorerhuntram
I don’t know I would hold my breath either, but you did the right thing by filing the complaint… that’s the only way the fools get weeded out of the system…
What some people don’t know is ABC motor club (we can call them ABC because it refers to all of them) has many different contracts with towing services of all sizes… some are contracted for heavy and light towing, while others are only capable of and contracted for light towing only… there will also be some for contracted for only tire repair, or only lockout and battery jumping… some may contract for all…. I am sure there are some I can’t even think of but it doesn’t end there ether… depending on what and the variety of services the rates are also negotiated… complicated yes, higher risk of a mistake yes, but still a good thing… you don’t want a triaxle Pete pulling in your driveway to jump start your 1960 Corvair…
but when I needed a jump start, I was surprised to see this little Ford Transit show up to… this little truck was well equipped for the job with everything from long jumper cables, 2 jump boxes in a rack always charged, a gas powered generator and air compressor, an assortment of new batteries, a complete set of lock-out tools, tire tools, jacks and jack stands…
I am surprised the little truck could move but the guy said he can get to many places much faster and take care of most problems… sure there was the chance the jump didn’t work and a tow was required costing more time in the end… but everything went smooth as silk… to be profitable and provide a reasonably good service and a reasonable price this really works…
They also have contracts with tow operators that refuse to provide their services at the discounted rate, some not even the commercial rate… ya they could be closer but assuradely they will only be called when other possibilities are exhausted…
Another quark in the grand scheme of things… is these tow operators may have contracts with state and/or local governments and police with a high priority to them… one of these guys might be almost to your aid and be diverted to their priority commitments… should happen often, but it happens enough… one thing is for sure… when it happens the rants will be pasted all over the internet…
In short, none of these motor clubs offer utopia,
but I believe they do their best to offer the best service they can, and they can be worth their weight in gold when they are needed… so I won’t travel without one… we pick our own poison… I just wish more would do it better informed first… - noe-placeExplorerWhen CN approached me to cover our MH they sent a brochure with the various levels of coverage. I picked the most expensive so I would have all bases covered. I never needed to look at any policy online since they sent the information to my mailbox. Maybe the net isn't always the best place to get information. :S
- huntramExplorerShredded my my rear truck tire on while pulling my 5th wheel on the 210 within eyesight of the 215 freeway.I told the dispatcher at Good Sam I was towing a heavy 5th and that the spare was probably low as I hadn't checked it in years.(I know)! Anyway they said NO longer then 45 minutes. I was not in booneysville. At 45 minutes the tow truck driver called and said he would be another 30 minutes!
Finally Quintero towing shows up in an old Toyota pickup with a hand jack that was incapable of picking up my truck rear with the trailer attached. I helped with my Bigfoot jacks, but he wanted me to also pick up the truck which I wouldn't do.
After replacing the tire I asked him what the tire pressure was in the spare. He assured me it was 80psi.I told him I didn't believe it, the spare hadn't been checked in over 3 years. He said again it had 80 psi. I told him I wanted to see for myself. He now claimed he didn't have a gauge! My gauge revealed 50 psi. Twice I asked and twice he LIED potentially putting my wife and me in hazardous conditions. I asked him to fill the tire and he first refused and said he would follow me to a gas station. He finally said he couldn't do it without calling in. He had a small portable compressor like you would have in a trunk. 10 minutes later when he was done he had the nerve to ask me for a tip.... I don't think so!
I called and complained to GS the next day and they said they would call back but its been a week now and haven't heard anything! Not holding my breath! :-P
Brian - D___MExplorerCoach Net has worked well for me.
- JJBIRISHExplorerThe one thing that really gets me about CN is, that CN does not have or offer the ability to go one line and read their contract… I have tried many times to find it…
they graciously say all the good promotional stuff on their web-site but have nothing about what is not covered, or the limitations, or any of the things they would rather you not know… do you really think there aren’t any…
Why not make it available so we can compare them??? You only get it after you buy-in via snail mail…
what are they hiding??? Why are they hiding it???
Both will tow if you need towing…
But more important is only one is contractually required to pull you out if you are stuck, but not broke down, so you can proceed under your own power… Only one provides towing if you are involved in an accident… Only one will cover sign and drive if you enter into Mexico …
These and some other things are important to me and may be to others, which is why you need to compare clause by clause, side by side, on what each really covers…
All the one sided and biases accounts of things good or bad will mean nothing when you need help and find out it really isn’t what everyone told me it was… that is just not a good time for discovery…
Let’s see all the cards on the table… - pnicholsExplorer III had been with AAA for over 30 years .... now for the topic of this thread:
After switching to CoachNet Premier (so all my vehicles are covered in the entire U.S. and Canada), I tried them out 900 miles from home outside a small town in Washington state. I called them in Texas, and the dispatcher named the town I was close to before I had told them - by using my cell phone's GPS system. The repair truck came by within the time stated ... told me what most likely caused the problem and fixed the problem on the spot. CN followed up later with phone calls to make sure the repair/tow truck had arrived and asked me how it went. I call that great customer service.
BTW, the reasons I switched (from AAA) were: Their policy is to not change inner rear duals, and they only allow three(3) or four(4) trouble call claims per year.
What I would REALLY LIKE is an ERS insurance policy for if-at-all-possible through normal channels offroad rescues on non-maintained roads ... if not possible through normal channels, then I pay for the rescue. - Dog_FolksExplorerThey are both good. As other posters have mentioned, both service sometimes use the exact same tow companies.
I have Good Sam,used it once with a flat tire with excellent results.
Thought I might investigate Coach Net. Sent them an e-mail asking a very specific, question regarding coverage. Took them three days to respond. Not what I want in a "emergency" responder.
Read each contract carefully and then make a choice. - john_betExplorer III have had GS since 2000. We finally needed them two weeks ago out in Montana on ST road 200, 25 miles west of Glendive. GS quickly found us a repair facility and a tow company. The tow company finally showed up an hour and a half after we were promised they would. That is thier fault not GS. The repair facility treated us real well. I am happy. All well that ends well.
