Well, then he wouldn't have any fodder for posting to his You Tube channel. Both are idiots. He states he didn't have any place to go, but then pulls off on the shoulder.SidecarFlip wrote:
Actually, the guy who was filmimg it should have applied the brakes immediately and let the Class A back in, instead of pacing him. Takes 2 to tango. Being a retired over the road truck driver, I've seen plenty of that stuff over the years. The guy driving the smaller unit was contributing to the negligence of the Class A driver.
My opinion and I'm sticking to it.
I agree, you just can't leave someone hung out on the wrong side of the road putting others in danger, regardless of how stupid he is behaving. - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

I watched that video
And he says he did slow down
Everyone of us know that slamming on the brakes at highway speed is a dangerous last resort, that can result in loss of control and roll over
And the side of the road at the time of passing was soft sand
He pulled over when he got to a section that was hard packed ground
The class A driver was an idiot, driving faster than all other prevailing traffic, and passing everybody on a two lane black top
Could have been mitigating circumstances like, the Class A driver had to go pee real bad or shat his pants and wanted to get where he could remove them asap....
Guess thats why I always drive slightly below the posted limit, leave plenty of space between me and the next vehicle and when I get passed, I immediately reposition myself to maintain assured clear distance. I'm never in any hurry to get anywhere. I'll die soon enough without being stupid.
I am betting on the shat his pants, not the RV driver but the drivers of the 3 cars LOL.
I am confrontational in such situations. If I was driving one of those cars, I would of turned a 180 and ran that guy down. It may not have been pretty but the next time he stopped he would have received a piece of my mind. Especially if I had my grand daughter or wife in the car with me.
Sadly you have too many incapable geezers out on the roads driving RV's that should not be driving a battery powered shopping cart at Walmart, as well as a fair amount of typical ******** that just do not know how to drive in general. I often commute I-79, I-70, and the PA pike 130+ miles per day, and see lots of stupidity or just plain incompetence with both MH's and bumper pulls. I -79 from Erie to the WV line is a hoot when the snowbirds are migrating. A good case for some type of required driving test with these things. - buckyExplorer IIHe had to get back before his 180 days expired.
- gmcsmokeExplorerstill watching for the blind turns he mentions. seems he added more drama to the situation than was needed.
- SDcampowneroperExplorerIf you are rving to the Q, whats the rush? I know that stretch of az. 95 n.of Quartsite very well. South of Parker it is inviting to ''push'. Its the land of 8-80 cattle- those with mouths 80' wide that graze at 8 mph.
It is also an area of many dips though desert washes that limit visibility ahead. that is why posted speed limits, while seemingly slow are there.
I defend the OP, it is not his duty to yield, or to drive at the limit yet he did yield to avert disaster.
I vote Bad on the A . great on the nb 4 wheelers that took their own lives on the line to take the sand shoulder to avert disaster.
As a professional driver, might I refresh the thought. of right of way?
Right of way is given , not taken. you are always responsible to yield it, never to take it. - rhagfoExplorer III

The creator of the video does saythat he is in pack of 8 RV's and it can be frustrating to get stuck behind a long line of vehicles.
My armchair quarterbacking says this is more than likely the reason the class A driver was taking the risk, foolish as it may have been. If those 8 caravaning motorhomes were traveling "at the speed limit" they probably were dropping below it occasionally.
I agree and if tightly bunched making it hard to pass. They seem to have way too many issues with Class A’s passing them. If you look at the next video up on the right side, they had another one passing them and seeming to force one of them and an oncoming car off the road!
I find it hard to believe that a rural two lane highway in Arizona only has a 55 mph speed limit.
I know I have passed other vehicles doing less than the speed limit while pulling our 5th wheel. - Just did similar on Trona Highway on the way back from Death Valley National Park.
Car came around to pass me and suddenly two oncoming cars came over a rise. I and the oncoming cars each had tires on the sandy shoulder so this guy can pass in the middle. Three abreast on a narrowish two lane road. He was way over the limit once he was past us. I assume DUI drugs. - HawkTXExplorer
