I have a problem with the kids in my area opening the black and gray water shutoff valves when my trailer is parked outside my house overnight. I usually pick up my trailer the night before we leave, so we can load everything up. Sometime overnight, the little snowflakes decide it would be a hoot to open the slide valve and leave the cap on. As you can imagine, it makes a mess when I remove the cap to put on the hose.Does anyone know of a lock that can be used on those slides?Thanks,Eric

Since they are not in a compartment you would have to fabricate something. In the mean time consider taking the handles off, they unscrew, and coat the rod with grease. Maybe that will slow them down a bit.

No locks which I am aware of. One of my units had an extra shutoff slide valve under the unit, near to where the tank actually was. Maybe some type of portable alarm like you could hang on a door? Big Christmas bells tied on, when handle is pulled, will make noise? A lock is an excellent idea and will be following. I heard of this happening in campgtounds.

You would get is so much trouble, but an electric fence charger to a metal handle would likely solve the problem! :B

Replace the cap with one that has a hose fitting and a bucket to drain into first

are you sure it's "kids" and not your weird adult neighbor doing it? It's been a long time since I was a kid, but I can't see pulling on waste handles all that exciting for a youngster. Why do you store your camper with waste in the tanks, wouldn't that problem be easier to solve?

On a thread about protecting carry out sat dishes, someone mentioned a battery powered proximity alarm.

Put one near the valves and it will go off with loud screeches.

Might be enough to scare them off.

Sure its not your kids?

How about a motion sensor connected to a light and an alarm. Call the police and fingerprint the valves, then let the police find out who they are and talk to them a bit.

Wrap a smaller chain or bicycle cable lock around the valves, and lock the ends with a lock. add a motion sensor light with an alarm. If it is loud enough to wake the neighbors, even better. If they complain, tell then what to do with the kids.
