Northwood's rules

Just a point of refererence - this may be typical, as I'm new to the RV'ing scene - but it generally surprised so thought it was worth posting.

I just bought an 2002 Nash 22H and was looking to clean it up.

I sent one message to Northwood asking about rear ladder mounts (mine had no ladder). They faxed me a blue print the next day!

I went about resealing the roof and fixtures. Not sure about how the roof/side interface worked so on a whim, I asked them. Here's the response I got the NEXT day: "the rubber roof is stretched to each side and stapled and trimmed. butyl tape is then applied to the molding and screwed down. the butyl is trimmed and we seal it with clear geocell"

Maybe this is par for the course with RV manufacturers (I'm new) - but for general manufacturing and service - it seems well beyond my expectations. My rig is old and it's likely that someone who buys such an old rig is likely to buy another used one when the time comes - so there's very little incentive for them to treat me right... but no questions asked - they did.

Anyway - just a data point - I got a Northwood for the construction and positive reviews - but this is definitely an added perk - especially for the DIY money saving types.
  • No it is not common to get that level of support.
But it's why when we bought a -new- rig, to replace our 10+ year old Northwood, it was a Northwood.
  • Same reason we bought a Northwood Fox Mountain 5'er. Great customer service.
  • They're pretty good that way. My buddy bought a new Arctic Fox TT and has sadly had too many defects in workmanship and engineering but they always talk to him on the phone when he calls and seem very knowledgeable.
  • I like my Jayco and it too has great customer support. However, if we could get Northwood products easily on the east coast, I would probably own one. They are great units with top notch customer service. Rarely do you ever hear any complaints and used units are very hard to find.

For a time, Northwoods had an east-coast factory. (circa 2001-2003)

But ya, they can be rare. A Texas couple I know drove to Florida to buy their used AF 29-5T. When they called the Factory they ended up taking to Ron Nash himself and he talked them through some features they were uncertain of.

Sorry to hear that, have they offered to fix it if he drives it to them? I know of situations where Northwoods has fixed rigs, post warranty, if they were taken to the factory.

I was finding the same thing - very few out east. Some Arctic Foxes, but the ones I've seen have been so expensive. I actually just bought a 2002' Nash 22H a couple weeks ago in VT. It wasn't a deal to brag about, but I jumped on it because it's the exact model I wanted. I was actually willing to spend more and get something newer, but this showed up and is in such good shape internally and mechanically... so for roughly 1/2 what I was willing to spend it's just a little more weathered looking outside and has a slightly more dated interior design.
