Respecting Boundaries at the RV Park
While sitting outside the other day under our awning in the nice 80 degree weather here in a well known Southern AZ RV Park a big fifth wheel rig pulled in and set up to back in in the spot behind ours. We watched in concealed amusement as it took an hour for this Texas licensed rig to get parked.
After several tries with the wife on a walkie talkie (one of the big problems in my view) they finally settled on a position. Then an argument broke out between the husband and wife of which we were unwilling but interested parties. It seems the argument was about the trailer space and how much room they had.
Next day we are on the patio again reading and lounging with the pooches. When we hear a great commotion from the site behind us. The Owner/Manager of the park, a truly nice and helpful guy, was being verbally harangued by the wife. Her complaint went on and on in a high-pitched whiny childlike voice that never let the manager speak.
Once again we were parties to this scene but this time we could hear it all…the VOLUME was amazing.
She was complaining because her site was not big enough. Apparently last year they had the same site and they had taken up a good deal of the site I am in too. The patient manager tried to explain to her but she was not hearing it. Finally he said “ you can come to the office and I will refund your money and you can leave, but the boundary stays the way it is.” She was asking to have him move us!
It was at this point that I entered the conversation and asked the manager if there was a problem with the way we were parked. He came over and said NO, there wasn’t.
The argument continued and the manager finally walked away after telling her she would not listen to him, she then followed him, pleading with him that she would listen to what he was saying!
“This is better than TV” I turned and said to my Friend Mary. “They could make a reality TV show about it”
Next day I am reading in my bed which is at the end of the trailer and I see this woman planting flowers or putting up bird feeders a good 8 feet or more into my site. She is of course oblivious…or trying to act it. I let it go.
Yesterday the husband was out in the same spot decorating the area with pottery animal figures. Again right outside my bedroom window and WELL within what would by any reasonable persons judgement, be my site.
So I am considering what to do. I will not go to the manager as yet. I may decide to have a quiet chat with the gentleman about good neighbors and respecting boundaries.
When people are living in close proximity as in most RV Parks, it seems that respecting the boundaries of others sites would be a long held common sense tradition. Apparently not to the Gentleman from Texas who apparently feels ENTITLED by his previous visit to do as he wishes. Despite what the Owner has said.
We leave for CA. and the Baja in a few days and will leave this couple in our wake and gratefully so. But I do feel for the poor guy who gets this site after me.
