That is an insurance brokerage web site - kind of like a realtor website - not a health care insurance company web site.

Yes, I think they have left the old information in place. The big changes occur this year. Only one page of the website even mentioned the ACA - and that was a recommendation you call and pay a certain person to help you get coverage.

Commercial websites change the copyright date when they put new information up on the site. Many review all their information at least once a year and update the copyrights at that time.

That tells the users the information is current.

A fact about preexisting conditions is that the companies are not allowed to charge more for them anymore, but the costs is spread around among all the others without preexisting conditions. It is a savings for those with them and an extra cost for those without them. When people I see hear discussing that their costs went way up, it is to pay for those with preexisting conditions and to pay the subsidies for those receiving them. When I took Economics 101 on day 1 the professor wrote on the board, there is no free lunch. The costs is just shifted to others. (along with a 20% or so administrative charge). Those of us on Medicare (paid into it for 40 years), need to be sure to get a plan that is usable in all states. We have AARP which has been taken all over. Part D (Medicines) are best used with nationwide pharmacies like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, ETC. Their computers are all linked together and going to one in ND is no different to going to my home town one in FL.

I am pretty sure that FAQ is out of date and needs to be updated. But, as mentioned at healthcare.gov, if you stay with a grandfathered group plan, all bets may be off.

BTW- the website you linked to is a commercial company that quotes insurance called readytoquote.com. They are not an actual insurance company.

OK, I have not read all responses to your post but I've seen enough dis-information that I thought it was time to step in and tell you we have.

In 2009 my wife and I started out with a PPO with United Health Care from AARP. We left California and made our way to Rapid City SD to establish a state of residence. Due to some of our health issues we attended to by Drs in SLC, Rapid CIty, Boston MA, and I thick we also visited a Dr in Brunswick ME. Life was really good and we had chosen the correct insurance Co. Later that year we bought a winter place in AZ.

In 2011 we were informed by United Health Care that they no longer offered this type of service due to the SD residency. In a panic we started looking a carrier. Eventually we found Humana and signed up for the Humana Gold Choice (PFFS). In the last two years my wife has seen Drs accross the nation and everything has been covered.

This year my wife tripped ove our dogs while pacing for our 7 month walk about. She was treated here in AZ in San Jose and in San Francisco for that injury. For me its been a tough year, MRIs here and in San Jose for herniated disks and injection in San Francisco to treat the disks. In may I challenged my slideout with my forehead while in Moab and the cost for that was covered (even though technically it was customer negligence). Since June I've had enough test run to bankrupt a small company and yesterday I came home from a triple bypass. I can only suggest that you look at Humana Gold Choice (PFFS).

GOOD LUCK with that Medicare. I went on Medicare Advantage 2 years and 2 months ago. After being on it just a few months, my deductables doubled, my co-pays doubled and quadrupled and my out-of-pocket went up 2-1/2 times. All this is because of the ACA stealing Medicare money, that was paid by me for 47 years, and buying votes with it by handing it to those that paid little or nothing.

I have to admit that because I only claim 22000 dollars as income the plans are made more affordable for me by the tax break included. But, I have not yet decided on what I want to do for sure and have continued to pay the high amount for my currant plan. But, the 540 dollars a month (or so) for the plan I have now is killing me. ha ha.

I know Alabama is not usually considered as a domicile for full-timers, but if health insurance cost is an issue you may want to take a look and compare prices. I say that because all of the BCBS plans, as far as I can determine, are on the BCBS national network. The rates seem reasonable as well -- my rates for similar coverage are about half of what they would be if I stayed on my existing plan. There are six BCBS plans to choose from, as well as some others that are not on a national network.
