30+ gallons? Really? A 5' tub is 42 gallons to the overflow drain, 50% of that with a person in it.

Straight water, like from a bathtub or shower, and introduced slowly, like after a long run of pipe, is very different that 100 gallons of 'stuff' straight into the tank like the OP stated.

They are installing clean outs several feet away from the tank...I seem to recall the number 25 in a number of instances...if not a hundred feet.

when I was in Cincinnati a lot of folks were using aerobic septic systems. blades kept stirring in O2 and the effluent from the tank was in fact drinkable, not that I would try a glass however.

Indeed Bumpy.

Most septic tanks utilize anerobic bacteria and a big doses of certain 'poisons' can screw up ALL bacterial...but it's not all black and white...

...and bacteria have told me that they really don't pay that much attention to what us humans call the tank they're in. ;-)

As far as killing the anaerobic bacteria with the water in the RV waste... guess what's in fresh water at your taps - O2! And killing those poor tiny anaerobic bacteria with open pipes. Well guess what... every sanitary drain system has an atmospheric vent, right after the P traps so the traps don't siphon and those open vents are on the septic/city side of the system. Craig

its nice to be from earth, where a little poop goes a long way.

for those who say it will destroy your septic system,, for goodness sake don't do it,
for the rest of us, common sense prevails as always, you will have no problem if you set it up right and have a properly maintained system,
an older tank may have some issues(50 yrs plus) an old tile bed may have issues, like if its plugged up or wheeps very slow.


I know my system, I know how well it works, I know I can have a bbq with up to 40 guests using my washrooms with lots of food and drink, theres about 600 gallons in a couple hours, I have emptied my tanks in through the hatch,,, with NO EXPLOSIONS or poopy volcanos, my tile bed distribution box is a good indicator as to how the system is working as to the clarity of the water, and anyone is more than welcome to taste test a sample.
if you have an issue with a flying turdcake over the baffle, then you have a baffle problem,, baffling isn't it, get on your dive gear and get down there and clean out the cross over ports that are about a foot down the baffle, which allows the effluent into the second chamber for FURTHER SETTLING and break down, before flowing out into the tile bed, unless you have a puny little tank clogged and full of debris drastically reducing its volume capabilities,,,,,, you won't have issues.
