Unbelieveable guess what I saw

You're not towing the first vehicle, why would you count it?

Triple tow, double tow, has been discussed many times on the forum and never has there been a consensus of opinion. Best to just leave it alone and call it what you wish. Most know what you mean anyway. :)

Passing over I75, I noticed a huge premium class A towing a dually pickup with a dual axle box cargo trailer in the rear. It passed beneath me and I was stunned at the length of the train. How does one hook up brakes on something like that??

The one that had me shaking my head was a mid 80's early 90's class A gasser flat towing an extended length E350!!!!

I think DOT describes it as a truck pulling three trailers is a triple tow. Since DOT doesn't want to have anything to do with non-commercial vehicles you find all kinds of different descriptions of what TRIPLE and DOUBLE towing means in the RV world.

I can hardly imagine controlling three separate trailers behind any truck. The fifth wheel trailer by the way it is hooked up is probably the safest towing of all the trailers and this is why you find them listed in most states being allowed to tow a trailer behind them. Towing a TT trailer behind your truck with another trailer connected behind the TT trailer has got to be more involved safety wise.

Then you have the connected trailer with a swivel wheel sometimes not even called a trailer in some states.

I think I will only just stick with towing ONE trailer at a time hehe...

I want my camping trips to be more on the fun and relaxing side...

Is "triple tow" when towing 3 trailers? I thought towing 2 trailers was "double tow". Never seen anyone towing 3 trailers, but many towing 2 trailers. Worst wreck I ever personally witnessed was a fellow towing a camper with a boat behind the camper. Boat started swaying and it was all over in a matter of seconds.

Each State has different rules on what you can tow... You only hope that this is reciprocal in the states you are passing through...

While in Alaska, we saw a Volvo White heavy duty single axle towing a 45' New Horizon, and flat towing a Toyota FJ. He had to be 85' long. Came all the way from Mississippi and he said he was never stopped. Wow, it looked great, but don't know if I could do it. Good luck!

Illinois.......tripe towing legal (Only with a 5th wheel) and MAX combined length of 60'
Indiana........triple towing legal MAX combined length of 65'
