OP you're lucky they didn't total your truck out. It can and does happen.
A girl I went to college with had a skunk crawl in her car. :E Yep, you got it; it sprayed. They gave up trying to clean the car and totaled it out. To expensive to replace all of the interior down to the metal.
As far as bear spray goes. I don't know where you people live but I live in the county and have seen only 3 bears in my life around here.
I went to Yellow Stone about 5 years ago and saw 0 bears. :M When I was a kid we went to Yellow Stone and there were dozens of bears lined up on the road for "snacks."
As far as using a product on anything other than the target pest, it is a federal offence. Yes people I personally know in my county have been prosecuted and convicted of doing it. Not something you want to do IMHO.
