- ktmrfsExplorer IIIPersonally I've been purchasing things for 45+ years. Never, repeat NEVER have I had any issues with anything I've bought that would have even approached wanting litigation or arbitration. First, deal with reputable merchants. Not that hard to get a sense of shady folks. Then when I have had a problem, dealing rationally with the merchant, I've always had success in getting the problem solved. As for vehicles, the problems I've had in 45 years of vehicle buying have all been very very minor and quickly fixed to our satisfaction.
Arbitration clauses are not something I have any concern about. Just like extended warranties as well.
Just my personal experience. BTW same with my folks experience as well as the in-laws. - 1968mooneyExplorerYour posts just confirm what I have been saying. :S

Simply put the Mandatory binding Arbitration eliminates Citizens right to eek redress, in the Courts. It says you can elect to got to Court but if either side decides they want arbitration instead, then you are bound to it. They have a list of arbitrators, Lawyers even Law clerks, you choose from, if they let you. These Arbitrators almost always side with the Companies. If they decide against a company they are removed from the list.
This was one part of the Visa Credit Card private Legislation. The other letting Banking and Lenders set up their own capricious and illegal Credit Bureaus and rating system. Don't have any debt you can't buy anything. Don't keep enough debt revolving, and your credit score is so low that you may not be able to buy anything, including your first home. Son paid for everything, had two savings accounts, two 401Ks and Roth, and money,in the bank. Couldn't buy a home. had to pay for a secured credit card he didn't want and buy and pay on it and was charged for the card in addition to the deposit amount and so on.
Talk about leaving a soured taste in your mouth. gone are the days when you walked into the bank and got a signature loan, for 90 days and maybe extended it for a year for a small amount to buy a car etc. Regulations by Fed, and virtually all Banks and Credit unions are Fed now.
Not much saving going on. They don't want to pay to use your money. They get money printed for them by our Treasury and charge it/us for it.They want us to borrow money from them or use plastic. They make money on every transaction with plastic and increase the cost of all goods and services by that much.
Sounds as if you need to move further "south". You hate our banks and economy so much, Mexico would be great for you. :S
Sounds like you haven't got a clue. Our economy is in the tanks thanks to your attitude.
Feel free to discuss it with me in person. I'll bring my books and accounts. I've been in, that business and others since before you were born. The People never chartered the Fed, nor Visa and most certainly not to run the economy and Republic. Jackson was right.
1st. I am 75 yrs. old so you must be 100.
2nd. I have had a great yr. Economy is best it's been in 5 yrs.
3rd. I would not waste my time on "know it all's" like you.
My ATTITUDE is great !!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS :B
Know it all. Well I could have quoted it chapter and verse.I gave it in full detail in common language. Perhaps you couldn't understand it either.
People, with you attitude, make me shake my head and laugh.
Merry Christmas - Homer1ExplorerYes it has been around for a long time. However until just recently if was not hidden in the fine print of the contract. In fact some CC companies have language in the contract that says if you use their card in any transaction, after the date they sent their "change notice" with your bill, you have automatically accepted "Binding Arbitration" as the method to deal with all disagreements. Said "Change notice" almost always starts out with verbiage about how they are going to protect you confidential information, (which we all know is garbage). Then they insert this "Binding Arbitration" clause in with the other means nothing language.

These arbitration clauses have been around for many many years. 50 I can think of. They are nothing new.
So has dysentery - being around a while doesn't make it good.
Binding arbitration has become A LOT more common in recent years. I'm really surprised at the fairly large number of people here that weren't aware of it. Definitely something people should at least become more aware of. - 1968mooneyExplorer

Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS :B - down_homeExplorer III lost track of who asked who. yes I lined out and had them sign a contract for a new car. I think it was the 2010.
I won't tell too much. Ask your Congressman or Senators. Let us know what they say. Been down that route. Everyone that knew when these pieces of Legislation, were being proposed flooded their phone lines etc. They basically spit in our faces. They ignored questions why. Fed Bankers, Visa etc makes huge contributions,to reelection campaigns and...insider trading is not illegal for our Congressmen and Senators. - down_homeExplorer II

1968 Mooney is right on the money with his post.I might add to his post the fact that the banks and credit unions charge huge fees (if you are late or what ever), they also charge huge interest $$ on any kind of payment transaction. Yet, they are paying (for the most part), less than 1% for your savings deposit while they are making up to 30% on CC loans and payments. How did we ever allow this to happen? Just try and do something about it. This is how they can afford to put a branch office with 4-5 people in it on every street corner, even tiny little towns.
Mooney didn't write it. he insulted it. - down_homeExplorer II

You are in no position to go up against high paid attorneys, hired to make sure you have no recourse in an all out disagreement, other than by some smuck who sells his services and acts as judge and jury in the sellers interest.
