Can Inverter support crock pot and refrigerator

New-bee question. I have a 400 watt inverter in my Pleasure Way Excel (2013) and would like to have a crock pot cooking in the sink while driving down the road. I have now idea of how to determine if my inverter can support x watt crockpot and my Dometic refrigerator. Any help would be appreciated.

The dometic fridge, if on electric will require all the output of the inverter, If on propane it only eats direct from the battery, and the propane tank.. (Assumes it is an AC/Propane model)

The crock pot.. Wattage varies with make and model so turn it over and look at it, add 10% to the wattage and that will tell you the minimum size of inverter, 25 percent is safer. But odds are good it will work.
  • If the inverter is part of the RV fitting then be sure they did the wiring right so it is fat enough for its length so the battery voltage holds up over 11v when the inverter is running a 400w load.

You can test that by running four 100w lamps

  • I recommend putting the fridge on propane when using the inverter/crock pot.
  • My RV is a class b motor home. It has a 400 watt inverter, my fridge is rated at 135 watts. I have not purchased the crockpot yet. Thought it best to ask the question before purchasing a small coackpot that we do not need at home. Needs to be small to fit in my sink.

    The math 400 - 10% = 360 - 135 watts for the fridge = 225 watt for crockpot.
    Does this math sound right.
  • A Crock Pot normally uses around 150 Watts. If your Frig uses 275 Watts, that would put you over by 25 Watts.
  • Neither item demands pure sine wave power so efficiency ratios need not apply.my old Norcold demanded 275 watts when on maximum cool. The crock pot is what, 150? With the cost of medium-quality MSW inverters being absurdly low these days, I would not be ashamed to advise getting a 750 watt continuous duty MSW. Less load percentage means less heat generated, more cooling ability, and plus allows you to get flagrant at times with occasional hungry loads like a saw or big drill.
  • Your fridge will use over 200 watts on 120v for the heating element
How much power does the crock pot use
Total the two, does it exceed 400w

Now the big question, is your RV a trailer or a motor home
Will your tow vehicle wiring supply 30+ amps of 13v power to the trailer to maintain the battery and keep the inverter on

Frankly I would keep the fridge on propane while driving, and use the inverter only for the crock pot
  • If inverter is rated for X watts, it theoretically will support X watts. Personally, I'm more confortable with 0.8X.
