Flooded bedroom

I've been living in my coach in Georgia since July. Wednesday night, as most of the state was stuck in traffic, my water pump failed and dumped probably 25 gallons of fresh (thank goodness) water into the bedroom. Luckily, I caught it as it was happening and dumped the fresh water tank. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. I took the bed apart and cut most of the carpet and pad out. My question is this: The is about an eight inch over hang of the slide out under which I can't get to the carpet to get it removed. Any ideas on how do that? I'm guessing removing the slide is the only way, but I'm pretty sure I'm not qualified for that. Any other thoughts?

    I have the bed apart and out. It is getting to the carpet underneath the overlap of the slideout.

    One thing I think you said the area you can't pull up is under the bed.

    You can take the bed apart,, I've done that on one occasion when I had to get under it.. Not all that easy (Epically putting it back) 2 people suggested but it's just a few screws and the thing comes apart fairly easily.

    Then you can easily get to the hard to reach area.

    I think you're making a very wise choice there. After the work is done post back the results. I think most RV'ers would like to replace their carpet but have slides to deal with and your experience would help.

    I appreciate the responses. I've talked to a Winnebago dealer and they suggest removing the trim around the slide. Then remove the stopper behind the trim. The slide will then extend beyond the camper and I will be able to get to the carpet. I've taken a look at DIYing it and don't think I'm qualified. The wood is dry so I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm not overly enthused about thy either. But I think it's all I can do right now.

    When I had wet carpet from water heater fitting I dried up the wood first and then pulled up the carpet and dried with wet vacuum as good as it could and then put a box fan blowing on the area. It worked for me but my area was much smaller then yours.

    If you catch it and dry it out promptly the damage is.. NOT basically.

    If you let it sit there for weeks on end.. THEN the damage is great.

    Basically the area you can not reach easily, ventilate it if you can (Fan, or better yet warm air fan (Heater). Blow on it for a few days and dry it out.

    Just a friendly clarification: OSB is water resistant, not waterproof. If it gets wet enough for long enough, it will get damaged, especially if in an off-vertical installation like a roof deck and in wetter climates like we have around here.

    If an RV floor that has OSB gets flooded, I don't think you'd want to let it sit there for very long, especially if the edge treatment was cut off during installation.

    Personally, I hate OSB. It's heavy, it really stinks and it can give you nasty slivers.

    Good idea. Maybe run a strong fan to circulate the air as well. If you dry it out fast it wont hurt anything.
