Thanks! That's essentially what I want to do. Where did you get that hose with pre-installed fittings or is that just what was there originally? It looks like you installed a new compression fitting to the PEX? I guess can do the same with metal braided residential line.
I was thinking I could just cut the existing hose and slip in a new shutoff valve and crimp it on. On further inspection, I see that a PEX crimp ring won't fit the hose diameter. Attaching the valve directly to the toilet seems like the easiest solution. - 96Bounder30EExplorer IIHere is what I did on the back of my toilet.......
- johntankExplorerI would go to a good hardware store (plumbing section) and see if they have the type of hose you have in your rv, if they do you could get all the fittings you would need and if the PEX crimp would work too. JMO
- myredracerExplorer IIMaybe newer RVs use the braided hose? It's a whitish, fatter 5/8" dia. looking hose. Ours has a Camco label on it that says RV and it connects to a standard 90 degree PEX swivel adapter fitting with a pinch clamp. I just don't know if a PEX crimp ring will work okay or not. I have a PEX crimper which would make it a snap for me.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIMost braided hoses come with a threaded fitting on the end.. Brass or Stainless.
Often one end will be 1/2 inch IPT, the other.... can be several things. - westendExplorerThe only supply hose I use that is braided (stainless exterior) comes with threaded fittings. For all the supply valves in my rig, I crimped on a threaded nipple and connected the valves.
