I need to pick your brains a bit here.....Does anyone know of a place besides Fastec to order new lock cylinders for RV doors?I went through the recall fiasco with my TT and waited for a heck of a long time to get my new cylinders and don't want to go through that again. Easier to just order some new ones somewhere. I checked online and found Fastec as the only source for their cylinders. Fastec has no way to email contact them, only a phone number. I am fixing a friends 2 door TT and it has a different key for each door. I want to have them operate with the same key, so ordering new cylinders is the easiest.One of them actually qualifies for the recall but the other doesn't. Apparently they have a new 400 series cylinders for the locks that will fit most older ones including the problematic 300 series.I'm in Calgary Alberta and would like to find some place I can get 4 cylinders, keyed alike from.Any ideas?

Maybe a local locksmith may have them but I'm guessing they are a rare size.

rvlocksand more.com Ireplaced both door locks and got new compartment locks and they are all keyed alike. Handy to only have one key for the whole trailer. They are located in Elkhart, IN, but will ship. Easy to work with.

X2 on the rvlocksandmore.I even changed out the baggage door locks so they use the same key as the main door. A little more secure than the CH751 universal and I only need 1 key for all the door locks on our 5r.

Here is a kicker for you. Fastec will be happy to sell you cylinders. The key that is used to retract the clip that allows you to pull the cylinder out, they won't sell to you, period. If you want to replace the cylinders out yourself.Same with Global Link. The cylinders they ship are worthless unless you can pull the old ones out.The trick is to hit ebay and buy a blue or yellow key from one of the people there, that or just buy new handles keyed alike.

You could try to email ecommhd at wesco.com which is the corporate parent of Fastec.When I replaced cylinders on one door to match the other door I was able to order a service key from ekeyblank.com but I don't see that key offered on their site anymore. The service key didn't work. I took my locks to my local locksmith that handles everything. He had never seen the FIC cylinders before. He took them into the back room and 10 minutes later gave me the lock back with the new cylinders installed. I think it cost me about $10 for his time.

If you are near Detroit, MI I have two suggestions

#1 with an inventory is Fred's Locksmith Service

The other one used to be Redford Safe and Lock, not I think it's just Redford Lock (Redford Safe is next door).

If you are NOT near Detroit, MI... Well there are other services like those in every major city and many minor cities from here to there and back again.

Pull in with the motor home. Talk to teh counter folks.. Odds are they can fix you up while you wait and even key them all alike for you.

I don't FIC are nearly as busy now as I just ordered my recalled cylinders about a month ago and they arrived promptly. I had no issues with them at all and they were easy to deal with on the phone.

I was looking at buying some from their site as well but I think I got to the paypal page and then could go no further.

Going to try that, just ordered a Yakima control key from Amazon, and will see if it works.

Yakima has the same type of lock cylinders for their roof racks. You buy the lock cylinders & key sets with the special removal key separately if you want to add them. I had spare keys made for the Yakima inserts and my FIC locks. Both used the same key blanks. It may be possible the Yakima inserts might work. I don't know where my removal key is so I can't confirm.

I replaced the FIC cylinder in my Bike Door with a Global Link cylinder. Works fine.

Thanks for the info and help.

I tried the rvlocksandmore website but they do not offer cylinders for FIC locks, only for the Global locks. There is one part that says Global cylinders work with FIC but another part that says they don't so what is right?

As for the key needed to pull the cylinder out, I have one of the Fastec blue keys from when I got the replacement cylinders for my TT.

I went to Fastecs site and attempted to order 2 sets, keyed alike but their online form is flawed and won't allow a Canadian to put in our postal code. Though they have an area to say I'm from Canada/ Alberta, the part of their form for the country and code returns an error telling me to put in a valid postal code.

I'm not sure if there is a way to put in a note on their warranty claim form to explain the situation, as one lock is covered by the recall and one isn't.
I may have to phone them if I want to do this.

Good luck, I hope you can find a good work-around. I waited a year and never got any response from Fastec. Then I sold the trailer... problem solved.
