New Coachman, Water Pump Issues - Updated/Fixed

192 RBS, we took delivery with the system still winterized. 12V pump shakes and rattles... but won't roll (the water).

Air is out of all the lines, hot water tank, including the external shower. Fresh water tank is approximately 3/4 full.

Diagnosing, and this one makes zero sense, with inlet water valve on, and winterizing valve also on (to suck fluid), I actually managed some fluid flow, not much but some. Winterizing valve closed, nothing, just a bunch of noise. Hose connections (visible under sink) appear to be tight.

Any ideas before I drive another 4 hours round trip (x2). I just thought of trying to suck through the winterizing hose. Anything other ideas?

Open both valves with the pump off then suck on the winterizing hose until it’s full of water. Then close the tank full valve. Turn on the pump and blow as hard as you can into the full winterizing tube to force water toward the pump.

Our camper has a 2-way valve but I find I can do something similar by putting the valve halfway between to suck water into the winterizing tube. No bucket needed that way.

You say the inlet valve is open. You need to make sure the pump is taking suction from the water tank. Fill valve for tank is closed and city water connect is closed.

    No city water valve
Fill valve is not designed to be air tight

For the other suggestion, there is no filter on the inlet side.

I will take a bucket of water and try priming the pump.
  • Brand new? It may have plastic shavings or other debris in the filter.

Pump needs to be primed so yeah, stick the winterizing hose in a jug of water and turn on the pump. Check also that the city water inlet check valve isn't leaking air into the system - a threaded male 3/4" plug will do the trick for this.

If you want to truly quiet the pump once you get it running check out my solution in my gallery. :B

I know that you said that the air is out of the lines, but it sounds that there is air in the lines. Be sure that a sink faucet is open, then run the pump.
    Good luck.

I ran it for several minutes. All the downstream air is out of the system. There's a clear cover on the inlet side, and nothing was flowing through that, except like I said when the winterizing valve was open... making ZERO sense.

  • Do you have a fill valve for fresh water tank? Do you have a winterizing valve that is in the wrong position?
