Sounds like more of a door problem, worn out or sloppy or loose hinges allowing the door to get out of alignment with the switch/magnet.
Plus i took a stronger magnet and touched up against the switch and nothing happened.Does this mean anything?

why don't you just drill out the pop rivets and move the magnet over , so that it no longer touches?
There is no rivets to be found. The magnet is the black round one and it just inserts into a hole in the lower part of the door.I dont know much about the switch except for what i have read and as far as i can understand the magnet has to line up with the switch as it does but it jams against the switch. When i go to open the door i have to force the bottom part of it out where it is stuck.

The magnetic reed is a way better swtich in my opinion but the answer to your question is yes.. AND.. I can think of a good reason.

First, you need to know if the switch is normall open, or normally closed,,, Kwikee uses both types depending on the age and shape of the controller.. Sorry, been long enough I forget which is which but you can look it up on the Kwikee web site as I did.

Then you need to mount it..

NOW> You also need to find the switch.. The one I use to sense STEPS IN... Wont work for you.

Some of the products made by Microswitch might do the job, though the ones I'm thinking of are not exactly plunger switches.... But they work in a similar manner (Press to activate) and many of them are SPDT so you can hook it up one way and if it works backwords, move one wire and you good.
I am not looking to bypass the controller,I was wonting to replace the magnetic reed switch that i currently have with the plunger switch that kwikee sales.I understand the plunger switch isnt meant for my setup but would like to replace with the plunger switch because when i shut my door the magnet sticks against the switch.I think if i can use the plunger switch instead it wont stick yet still work just the same.

You just need to buy the correct plunger- older models (around pre-2000) used a normally closed switch, later used a normally open. The switch just connects to ground, so it's 2 wires, one from the brain, one to ground.
So the controller will still know when to shut the power to the motor just like the magnetic one?

Yes- no problem. Here is a pdf file of the door switches, with Kwikee part numbers for 3 magnetic and one plunger.
The reason for this is because I am having clearance issues between the magnet and switch.Do you think switching out with the plunger switch will cure my issue?
