Replacing Bed Lift Struts - HatchLift

About 2 years ago I finally got around to installing a better lift mechanism for the queen size bed in the motorhome. I did considerable research and finally decided on HatchLift. Click here to view their website.
Before purchasing the HatchLift kit and di extensive research. I called HatchLift and spoke with Gary the owner and he selected the size lift for my situation. Very helpful fell.

After installing this lift kit the bed was extremely easy to lift. It was so well balanced that my wife found it to be a breeze to lift the bed without any help from me.

This past weekend my wife told me the bed lift wasn't working right and sure enough one of the lifts must have gone bad. So I sent an email to HatchLift and explained the situation. In less that 24 hours I received a reply from the owner, Gary. He asked for my model number and shipping address and then he promptly sent replacements via FedEx.

If you need new struts I highly recommend HatchLift. The product works great and if you should have a problem it's reassuring to know the owner will stand behind the product and give you AWESOME customer service.

Hope this info is helpful.

  • I installed a set of gas struts to lift our bed to access the underbed storage easier. Being from Canada, the frieght costs on that sort of stuff gets prohibitive. I did all my research on the excellent Hatchlift website and went to a local RV dealer for the parts. If it hadn't been for the shipping costs to Canada, I certainly would have ordered from Hatchlift, because their prices are very reasonable and I believe that their parts are more robust than I could find locally. That being said, following the instructions on the website gave me a very happy result. I hadn't been able to find a whole lot of information prior to finding Hatchlift, so I put up a YouTube video showing how I went about it. Here's a link:

  • A friend of mine needed struts for his motorhome basement doors. I directed him to HatchLift and he is totally delighted with the product. I believe he was able to purchase them from Camping World. When I bought mine I dealt directly with Gary at HatchLift.
  • I agree, it is a pleasure to find someone who backs their product. A few years ago I installed a HatchLift kit on the outside compartment on my 5er. I had followed the chart on the website. It wasn't able to hold the compartment door up so Gary sent me stronger struts(apparently my doors are heavier than most). I think it took till the forth set till it was right but Gary was there the whole time and only ask me to ship back the unused struts once we finally had them right.
