TOUCH SENSOR MONITOR PANEL 5001486

http://rvcomponents.visonerv.com/cgi-bin/md/M855/s1.pl

One of these in our 07 Discovery. LP (38 gal tank) shows 1/3 but the actual gauge on the tank itself shows just under 1/2. Does not appear that that plastic cap that snaps on can be adjusted.. Does have some shitty looking connectors, might replace entire switch.

Anybody have any documentation?

If it has the glued on sending units on the outside of the tank, THOSE can also cause false readings from in tank build up of oils and sewage. Also, ANY type of support and structure within 5 inches of those sending units can cause false readings. Doug

    Is this your sending units?

  • For the water and holding tanks, there are electrodes in the tanks to detect the water level. In the gray and especially the black tank, these sometimes get some scum or crud on them that fools them into giving false readings. You can search here for various threads on ways of cleaning the tanks to get the indicators working properly, at least temporarily. One popular recipe is the "GEO method."

It's the gray tank that shows full after I drain it.

    1. The difference in your LP is NORMAL. wall monitors that have 1/3 increments do not mix well with sending units(LP) that are usually in 1/4 increments. This has been true for 36 years
    2. The problem with your Gray tank is NORMAL also:B You need to fill and flush at least 4 times to clean out the inside of the tank and then after the last fill/flush and drain, leave the valve open and the dump cap off for 24 hours. The tank will then read empty. Once it has had the metal probes flushed of the oily build up and allowed to dry it will read empty. SAME with a Black tank reading more than E when dumped. Doug

  • This is one of the typical four-light panels, right? A half tank is exactly between 1/3 and 2/3, so I don't really see what the problem is with it showing 1/3 given the resolution of the readout. (It would be more wrong to show the next increment up of 2/3.) These are only able to give a very rough approximation of levels by design.

Some of these panels have an adjustment potentiometer to tweak the range/sensitivity of the readout; it may be necessary to remove the light panel to access it, or there may be a little hole on the front to sneak a tiny screwdriver in. If you have the adjustment, you can tweak it until the readout corresponds to what you would like. Others are not readily adjustable.
  • OK, I see your in Phoenix. Will contact you this weekend.
