- Canadian_RainbiExplorerIt's a bit late for an update, but as they say, better late than never:
In Yuma in March, the tech found that it was NOT in fact the thermistor! It had simply been poor, likely dirty, contacts! When he removed the jumper and plugged the connectors back onto the thermistor the fans started up just fine! Heat turned them on, cold spray turned them off. Now in mid July the fridge is still operating as is should. :S Canadian Rainbirds wrote:
Well the fridge is working, almost too well!
With daytime ambient temps in the high 20s to low 30s C (low 80s F) and overnight temps teens to low 20s C (high 60s F) the in fridge air temperature remains around 2C (5 - 6F). Set temp is at 1. When it was set higher we would wake up in the morning with the fridge temperature several degrees below freezing.
Is this due to the fact that the fans are running 24/7 AND there are no vent covers?
Think about what you posted. The Thermister is what shuts the refer ON and OFF, not ventilation or lack of it. Fans on 24/7 just makes the refer cool more efficiently(quicker). Doug- Canadian_RainbiExplorerWell the fridge is working, almost too well!

With the fans running 24/7 it's down to -1 C in the fridge compartment when we get up in the morning. During the day it will go up to 6 or 7 if the door is opened a lot then goes back down.
Right now, at 3:40 PM at 30.5C inside the rig, the internal fridge temperature is 0C. but the door has been closed for several hours. Time to turn it down a bit more! - Canadian_RainbiExplorer

TOLD you it was a minor fix:B Doug
You didn't miss out on the big $$$$ Doug, We wouldn't have been returning through DFW anyway. :B
I'll see if I can pick up a t stat here anyway and install it when temps cool down as we go north. And some male spade crimp connectors so my jumper will be more than a piece of stripped wire stuffed into the female connectors! Less likely to fall out!
Thanks again Doug

Back plate of the freezer is reading -10 F (required range -5 to -10
Fins is fridge reading 19 F (range 18 to 25F
Air temp in fridge: -1 ! OOPS got to turn that down!
Now just need the vent covers.

When I replace a cooling unit and/or the fans, I always change the tstat for the fans. I also run a 2 wire down from the tstat so you can jump the tstat at anytime to run the fans. It also helps to diagnois in the future. You do not have to pull the refer to diagnois if it is a tstat or fan problem. IMO, anytime the temp is above 75 degrees, running the fans 24/7 is not a bad idea. If it is in a slide room, they NEED to run 24/7 regardless of the outside temp. - Canadian_RainbiExplorerUPDATE, need TECH question answered:
Three minute fix maybe. Temporary at best: Jumpered the thermostatic switch, fans are running! Just waiting to see if the fridge will cool now the fans are running. I'm sure the freezer will--it did before. . .
QUESTION: How long can I leave the fans running without the thermostatic switch operating--ie fans on all the time?
Moisheh, (or anyone else that might know) am I likely to be able to find one of the correct range in Puerto Vallarta?
Thanks
