- AlmotExplorer IIIYep. Fridge is a hog, people often don't realize this because they camp just a day or two. More than 1 lb a day for a 6 cf frig, up to 1.5 lb. One green cartridge will be gone in 24 hours or less. Stove needs 10 times less, only 0.1-0.2 lb a day. You can cook on that 1 lb cartridge for a week.
- dclark1946ExplorerColeman used to offer a twin one pound adapter called the Gemini that would give you 2x capacity. I carry one for such situations.

An 8cf uses about a 1/4 gallon per day at 77 degrees ambient according to Dometic. Therefore a 16 oz cylinder should last close to 24 hours.j.p.f. wrote:
I wonder how long the 16 oz would run a fridge?
I can see where it could be usefull in a short term emergency.
but very expensive!
I haven't done the math, but a 30# tank will run my fridge for weeks.
So a 1# tank will definantly keep the fridge running in a pinch.
Saving a bunch of very EXPENSIVE food.

you can always refill your own, but that's another thread/issue.
bumpy - RJsfishinExplorerI got my 1 lb bottle adapter at CW years ago.

but very expensive! - christopherglenExplorerI just changed out the 8" pigtails on my tanks to 5' lines. When at home I can set a BBQ bottle on the ground (they don't get much use in December) and run the trailer directly off that. When I go to my FIL's place I bring an extra 30# tank for the same reason.
- ralphnjoannExplorerAdd one of these and you can hook up a 20 lb or 30 lb external tank to your camper:
Propane Extension Hose
Note: Tanks with the Acme threads on the outside are also threaded for POL connections on the inside. If you have a hose with a POL fitting, it will also work.
