- Old___SlowExplorerMex,
I love reading your point of view. Living in Mexico looking outward. Sometimes toward the USA and all the way to China. Now, what we gonna do when we need to buy not only the 3000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter but an automobile??. China imports are coming. I'm living in the 'shorts' in my numbered days. So, maybe I'll not have to choose China inverters or autos. Or even batts. The one in my Malibu was made in Mexico.:)
PS: It has been a good batt.
O&S - pianotunaNomad IIIHi BFL13,
The only thing I'm afraid to run from the Cobra is the roof air--and for that I need at least 2000 watts PSW. If I go for 3000 watts I don't need to rewire anything, and basically can run all loads simultaneously. It would be a pain to separate out just the air conditioner.
The Cobra does have one "limitation" and that is it can only be run at 2500 watts for 30 minutes. Then it has to be shut down for a while to cool off.BFL13 wrote:
PT I got lost again. Since you have specific loads, none of which cannot be run with 2500w, why do you need a new 3000w job? Why can't you get a PSW (if needed) 1000w (Xantrex) from Can Tire next time they come on sale and add that to the battery bank, and split up the various loads among your two inverters. ASSumes the Cobra still has a long life ahead of it. - mytimeExplorerIf you decide to purchase an inverter, do a lot of shopping on the internet. I just replaced my 3000PSW Xantrex, it had a fault code that I could not reset, I replaced it with a Magnum 2812 PSW a few days ago., I purchased it on line from imarine, at a price well below any others. I also had to replace the remote inside the Coach. I have 4-8D Lifeline Batteries, 255Amps each.
I still have the Xantrex, and the remote, not sure if it can be repaired or not, have not checked with anyone, but would be will to let it go for the right price. - BFL13Explorer IIPT I got lost again. Since you have specific loads, none of which

I have a 1000w inverter that does the whole house TV/DVD, laptop, cell phone, etc (could have got a 300w for that , but the 1000w was on sale)
Meanwhile I have the 2000w inverter dedicated to the MW, toaster, and kettle. (Actually the toaster and kettle can run on the 1000w, but I don't to keep it simple as wired in)
I can operate both inverters at the same time for a total of 3000w on the four 6s no sweat, as when running the MW while watching TV/dvd.
Why can't you organize things so you can keep your Cobra for the big things and use a smaller, second inverter for the little things? - MEXICOWANDERERExplorer"The percentage of total harmonic distortion at 80% rated output at 40C is OK, we can make it."
Ain't it a kick in the rear to read this stuff? "You warranties be well too. We guarantee that as well".
The real shame is China is wasting precious resources and creating millions of tons of pollution and CO2 for "make work" projects to keep the politburo members from being roasted and eaten.
Whatever specification. Don't worry be happy "we can make it" - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Mex,
At my last excursion into inverter land I purchased a 5000 watt 12 volt input inverter. In the middle of a trip I had to have it removed because it would no longer support 300 watts let alone 3000.
I was promised a refund--which I never received. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerReceived this morning....a reply...

RE: I would like to know more about your inverter, pure sine wave power inverter, power inverter
Dear David,
Many thanks of you interested in our pure sine wave inverters .
Our company is a professional manufacturer of pure sine wave off grid inverter from 120W to 3000W.
"The percentage of total harmonic distortion at 80% rated output at 40C is OK, we can make it."
Would you tell me the specfications you want , like as the input voltage ,output voltage and the frequency, please?
Awaiting your soonest reply.
Many thanks and best regards
Amy

Thanks for the information on Xantrex. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi mytime,
I had (when new) 875 amp-hours of 12 volt marine batteries to draw on. I can recharge at (observed numbers) 60 amps via alternator, 35 via converter, and 16 amps via solar. My air conditioner draws about 1200 watts (transliterates into 120 dc amps). If I drop out the converter, that still allows me a lot of run time before the battery bank is depleted. I do have manual control over the alternator charging circuits so I can turn them off should they start exceeding 60 amps.
I have been experimenting with the water heater which happens to draw the same amount of energy as the roof air. So far I have not exceeded 60 amps from the alternator which is rated at 130 amps.
I can successfully run the roof air from the existing system--but I'm not "happy" with running it from an MSW inverter.
The air conditioner will cycle when the dash air is operating, but the dash air eventually "looses the battle" to keep the living quarters of the RV at a comfortable temperature. I want to arrive at camping (boondocking) locations with the rear at about 23 C (73 F).
On my most recent trip I had to run the genny for 25 hours at a cost of $59.00 for fuel and $7.00 for oil. Over 1/2 the time I was rolling down the road so I think I can save about 50% of the genny run time.
If I stop where there is modest shore power I can still run the converter full blast to replace the energy from the battery bank, and if not I can run the genny to replace the amp-hours used.mytime wrote:
I think the first answer would be how many and what type bstteties you plan to use., don't think you willget much AC use on 2 batteries. - Chris_BryantExplorer III maintain a couple of 3kw sine wave systems- both Xantrex (an RS3000 and a Freedom SW3000). Both have given reasonable service in much harder use than most would give (clothes steamers, curling irons, regular irons, computers, blow driers, etc.). I actually drew over 3500 watts from the RS3000 while I was stress testing- did not fault or overheat.
I really think Xantrex is as good as Magnum, but Magnum is reportedly a much better company to deal with.
