- Big_KatunaExplorer II30a connections run close to max ratings. There is also a cancer effect. If you have a worn male connector on your main cord, it will burn up a brand new high quality dog bone. Toy need to get smart. Look at your plugs and adapters. If any as discolored and show melted rubber time to replace. You may need to replace everything at once.
To add to the mix is MANY 30A pedestals are hosed and will ruin your now new
Connectors. ALWAYS use a 50a to 30 if you can. - CA_TravelerExplorer III

This is a clear indication that you're continually drawing close to 30A.
Stayed 2 weeks in Floirda. With the 30amp plug with just AC and one other appliance (fan) kept tripping breaker.
You're in FL = hot, AC running etc. 30A plugs should not exceed 80% or 24A continuous draw. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThe hardware is simply crap. I have seen (and have in my storage bay) 30 to 50 adapters that are burnt and melted despite not having used more amps than necessary (proven by the fact that the 30 amp breaker never tripped). No matter, when I disconnected from shore power I found a hot, scorched , melted and mis-formed 30 amp plug. I don't pay it much attention and use it at the next site as well. I buy a new one from time to time but I don't get it much consideration on a daily basis.
- Worn, loose connection.
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIDog bone female or male cord prongs dirty or bad.
- MeandMyLabsExplorerA 50 to 30 adapter should use just 1 leg of the 50 amp circuit to energize your 30 amp service. If all connections are tight, it should not get hot. My guess is the dog bone contacts have worn a little or are making a loose connection which is creating the heat. A good idea for everyone to check when using a heavy draw.
- No electric water heat or fridge?
- GordonThreeExplorerwhat's a 50 to 30 amp female adapter? is it a cheater, that lets you plug a cord set rated for 30 amps into an outlet capable of delivering 50 amps?
if that's the case, you're lucky only the cheater melted, rather than the cord set melting or catching fire. - Mandalay_ParrExplorerPoor or dirty connection.
- jeeperdude10ExplorerSaid that wrong...30 amp female melted.....
