To be honest, and I don’t think I have been the only one, that have enjoyed reading this thread and have/had my own opinions and observations, from the very onset. I would agree with btggraphix and many others. I applaud Sleepy with his investigations and his ability to sum up the facts. We all know, those that have been around a while, that Sleepy lacks a certain filter, for, well; Tact. But all the other plusses he provides, greatly overshadows that issue and I find his lack of tact, endearing. O.K. Kudos for the OP, for standing in there, toe to toe and not developing into an attitude, or even a little bit contrite. The OP has held steadfast to the fact that he has been wronged, unwavering.
Well, I would like to share a couple of other points I keep wondering if and when someone else would bring them up.
First, I concur, that the OP should have taken the TC back to the Factory, for a Rehab, if he felt that strongly that this issue was unlivable. His own admission what the error was, was only going to compound over time. Here is where I differ. It is NOT the responsibility of the Manufacturer to pay/reimburse the customer for returning to the factory of their product, unless expressed in the purchase agreement and warranty. Now, we have read here, that some have had assistance in getting their TCs back to the Mother Ship’. But the fact is, how the Manufacturer is supposed to know, and plan, for a customer to purchase a product produced in Montana and they live in Florida! Often I have read that one of the conditions of a TC purchase is distance to the Manufacturer, as it was for me in the purchase of my own TC. The OP has no sympathy from me that he is too important to get his TC back to the manufacturer. Funny how he didn’t mention/consider just having it shipped there, since he has such a great checkbook and his time is worth money. Shipping a TC would have been a piece of cake.
O.K., second point. The OP mentioned how he was out the $13,000.00, for this decision he made and had a hand in throwing into the St. Lawrence Seaway (sorry btggraphix, I loved your visual on this). I don’t imagine for a minute that there was a certain amount of Sympathy and Pity Party at the Dealers over the purchase of the NEW Weekend Wanderer Class C Toy Hauler that the OP triumphantly claims is the saving salvation in this RV Debacle. With this Pity Party aura, does in not give you thoughts that this $13,000 loss figure in heavy discounting for the purchase of said Weekend Wanderer Class C Toy Hauler RV? Yeah, I think someone made out pretty good here and didn’t pay full price, especially with being a previous customer. Yeah, my heart bleeds.
As for the beating of the OP in this forum, no chance. He made his own bed and he doing what he intended, placed those purchasing a Host RV to be aware, as well as reinforcing anyone purchasing an RV. I had my own experience with Ketelsen RV in Denver, as I was pleased with the delivery of my Lance, after inspecting the TC a few weeks before delivery. What I didn’t know, was that the dealership suffered a significant Hail Storm between the time I inspected and took delivery. I was told of this, and only learned of the timing, when I picked up my motorcycle trailer a month later, 3 miles east of the RV. I found damage to the back metal trim area of my TC, as well as all the cooler vent vanes of my A/C bent and a new cover on my A/C unit as well as new vent covers and escape hatch. I suspect a dinette window replacement too. I chalked it up, to be better at making my inspection. It is an attitude. If you are always looking for someone to blame, you fail to take care of the issue in front of you, you can blame yourself. Doing this you might die in the desert, waiting for someone else to rescue you. Me? I take steps to self-rescue myself and not spend my life blaming other people.
Beating up on OPs and others? Heck, its good entertainment and others learn from it. With this thread, maybe the next person will weigh, carefully, their facts before presenting their case in front of the Jury of the RV.net TC Members. HeXX, we even call out our own. Some of us might remember taking a dearly, beloved Poster here, to the proverbial “Woodshed,” a few years back. While it was very tough to witness and I even came in too, with a few whacks with the Willow Stick, it was overdue and even this poster came back with even a better attitude. It just showed what a great guy he truly is, he listened to his peers and made the changes necessary. If the OP wants to continue here, in the TC forum, or any other forum here on RV.net, I would suggest he make the needed changes necessary. He has already shown he listens.
