Not a tow vehicle. More like the hotrod PUs, Chevy SS or Ford Lightning, with an off road flavor.
Probably loosing a lot of payload because of the 800 lbs of vinyl graphics.
Anyway, nice toy.
Seems to be the case, the very limited payload would be a concern Off Road - LessmoreExplorer III for one don't like decal packages. I think they ruin the lines of almost any vehicle.
I would never get any vehicle with a decal package .
Other than the decal or special paint job...whatever it is, I think this new Power Wagon looks pretty good.
I also don't like dealership decals or badges. When I buy a new vehicle I tell the dealer I don't want any dealership decal or badge on it. If it is on the vehicle, it has to be removed before I accept delivery. ib516 wrote:
Browsing through the electronic copy of the owners manual for the 2014 RAM trucks, I discovered something else that may contribute to the Power Wagon's lower tow rating:
- It comes equipped with load range "D" tires instead of the load range "E" the other 2500s come with. I bet that means lowered GAWRs.
- The GVWR is only 8510# as well. My 2014 2500 Laramie (non - PW version) GVWR is 10,000#.
Pretty substantial differences in the ratings.
Bingo...That's probably it.- Majja13Explorer

To bad the tow rating on this truck sux. Up to 10800 lbs towing. I am sure it is due to the softer off road suspension. This truck would be very high on my short list if the 1/2 ton did not have better towing.
Put a set of long travel airbags and the PW can handle a 10-15k lbs trailer much better and safer than any 1/2 ton, regardless of ratings.
A 11.5" + 14" brakes + huge beafy 50ksi frame = unsurpassed trailer control.
Remember, when it comes to DOT, they only look at axle/tire ratings (whichever is lower) and the registered GVW. Factory "GVWR" and "GCWR" are more to do with powertrain warranty than safety.
This is what I would think about doing. I get up in the dirt and some pretty rough stuff, especially up hunting. I wish funds would allow me to have a dedicated TV and then a kick a$$ jeep. - ib516Explorer IIBrowsing through the electronic copy of the owners manual for the 2014 RAM trucks, I discovered something else that may contribute to the Power Wagon's lower tow rating:

I'm sure it is because of the off-road suspension. My wife's Raptor is the same way. My father has 10 or 11 power wagon and tows his TT and various other small trailers without issue.....but he also has a job that requires him to work on top of remote mountain tops repairing communication towers. I suppose it all comes down to your basic needs. For what it is, the Power Wagon is a nicely configured truck......you may just have to go smaller with the trailer. - MackinawManExplorerBack in the early 90's I owned a late 70's Power Wagon. Thing was pretty rusty...But it had the 360, was a 4 x 4, loud, and was a tank. And I was young and stupid.
Bad combination...but lots of fun!:B - BluhornExplorerNice!!! I would opt out of the graphics though.
