What are they replacing the CP4.2 with? GM has had far less failures and will carry over everything to the new 15' model.
I do not believe Ford is changing HPFP's from the current Bosch CP4.2 series. Ford has quietly been trying to improve HPFP reliability through several introductions of "upgraded CP4.2 components...there have been several part number changes...but still no admission that they have a problem even though it is well known that Ford has warranty issues with their HPFP system...
The HPFP upgrades can only be a good thing...and is the likely reason that the number of HPFP failures in later model years, after 2011, appear to be lessening...this is a good thing for later model year owners but leaves early purchasers holding the "no warranty" bag...Shame on Ford
While you mentioned Gm failures as less in numbers, my experience after talking with both the lead Ford 6.7 engineer and other engineers that work daily with Bosch and their fuel systems is different. Also, the myriad of manufacturers that provided answers to questions in the NHTSA investigation into the Bosch CP4.xx series fuel systems show uniform failure rates across the board. One engineer, after a visit to Bosch headquarters, told me the pallet full if Bosch CP4.2's from GM was similar in number to the Ford pallet full sitting right next to it.
What does this mean...simply put...GM has stepped up to the plate and kept all their CP4.2 pump failure customers well taken care of...After long research, it is my finding that one will have a difficult time finding any GM CP4 failures...and will not find any GM CP4 failures that were not warrantied...but maybe the Blue KoolAid group will dig one up :B
