Not to mention wanting to pass the Prius drivers going below the speed limit. The rolling hills in ID, and UT the torque is needed to keep going the posted speed limits of 75 and 80.
If you don't want more power get the gas motor or the new 1/2 trucks with diesels that are coming.
What is it with these Prius drivers? I feel I need at least 400 hp to generate enough exhaust smoke to ruin their day. ;) Just kidding. Sort of.
Way to many of the Prius drivers are the lead cars on the slow lines to the coast way to often. It's like they have not driven above 50 before. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerGive me a break !! Motor will really be stressed now. I mean look at what tuners do. They can jack up a bunch more power, but could very much so shorted the life span of the engine. The power wars have gotten out of hand.
- RedRocket204ExplorerNo ability to tow a Space Shuttle, no care.
- Bionic_ManExplorerI was shaking my head when I read this, then realized that it isn't that much more power than they have in the current truck. We have come a long way.
And, on a side note, you would think they could do something about those ugly fenders. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerYou can get that truck for less than 35K? :h

I would like a 8800 GVWR truck with a diesel engine that creates 350 HP and 450 or 500 ft/lbs of torque at 1800 rpms and gets 20 mpg highway that is available for $35K or less.
They already build the truck you are looking for, but it is a 1500. Why would anybody want to lower the GVWR of a 1 ton truck that is rated less than the average half ton?
Who makes the truck you're talking about? :h
The truck I am referring to is the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. It falls a little bit short of the HP requested, but it is within 30 lb/ft on the torque. It is rated to tow almost 9,000 lbs, and 28 mpg on the highway. That is pretty darn close to fulfilling all the wishes that were originally stated. I know it doesn't exactly fulfill that neutered 1 ton being dreamed up, but the point was that the guy is simply asking to de-rate a 1 ton to basically modern half ton specs. - OrcadrvrExplorer

There are so many posters advocating that 35 feet is not too long that the BIG power is needed .
My answer was to downsize about 12 feet . - goducks10Explorer

Nice looking red truck, err rocket :E
Wonder if all three will use the J2807 starting in 2015?
I read somewhere the 15 series will start this MY.
HD trucks are exempt from the J2807 IIRC.
Your on to something there, all they have to do is give over 13k GVWR and they don't have to use J2807.

Wonder if that F250 will soon have a GVWR of 13001 lbs :B
My guess is that the big 3 won't implement them on their HD's in 2015, only 1/2 tons. Why not drag out the tow wars longer for the HD's. - 45RicochetExplorer
