Ford was very foolish to not having taken the high road on the 6.7 warranty as GM has with their CP4.2 failures.
This is a mistake that is going to dog them for years.
Are you saying then that Ford sales would have been even that much more over the competition because it doesn't seem to be hurting much since 2010 seeing they have outsold everyone including the GM twins since then!
...well I know of at least 145 sales they did not get directly as a result of my debacle...you may poo poo that if you like, and as a leading candidate for the Blue Koolaid Distributorship, I expect you will...how many other sales were lost because of fallout from others with the same story are unknown but certainly exist.
Yes, we all know that Ford outsells GM and Ram in the HD marketplace but Ram and GM have made some progress. I know you love the Fords but keep in mind you are only one warranty rejection from not being quite so happy...and to deny that possibility is simply whistling past the graveyard...

Maybe they updated them. I am all for the power wars and competition is good for all of us, but how far can you go ? pulling 30,000 lbs with a pickup just seems rediculous to me.If you need to tow that much or can afford to tow that much you should br looking beyond a pickup.

Word on the GM truck forums is that the Duramax will see an update in 2017 to around 445 hp and 850 torque. I guess time will tell, as always.
IIRC, the 6.6L Duramax is maxed out in tuning for power / emissions ratio. Isuzu built a great diesel engine, no need to play the leapfrog game. - Ron3rdExplorer III

And my guess if you look at length of ownership that Dodge RAM/Cummins wins the statistic.

Well, nothing is perfect. Remember the Cummins' cracked "53" blocks, the killer-dowel pins, the failed lift pumps, the faulty wrist pins, et al, all of which could destroy thousands of dollars of engine. The consumer picked up many of those costs too.
And Ram has chosen an Italian diesel for its 1500 line next year, likely due to its new owners, who were basically given the company after it was bailed out by the American taxpayer, twice.
Ford is not immune. Read these articles if you don't believe me

Meh, who needs it? My 350HP/650 ft/lbs is plenty and has no issues pulling what I need it to pull.
Ford reminds me of that kid that always said, "Well my dad can beat your dad...etc.."
Careful now. They all do that. Whether it's torque, tow capacity or payload and RAM is no exception.
yeah, but RAM basically just played catch-up and obviously then some. There must be a point of diminished returns. I don't care so much if RAM is king for the moment. Would I like 850 ft/lbs of torque? Sure would! Would I go get rid of my 3 year old truck to have one? Nope. - spud1957Explorer

It is simply not needed in a truck that size but all the school boys keep throwing their money down for them so they keep selling them.
