Good observation.... I'm not sure you can compare the Canyons rating to a full size truck.- GWolfeExplorerCant believe this hasn't been posted yet. Got the highest overall score of any truck they have tested.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIII put 300K on it and I am thankful I did not die in it! With the seat back my knees were still in the dash. I added stiffer spring to the back since I hauled a large KNACK tool box full of tools with it.

That's nuthin! I used to get 44 with my 81 VW Diesel PU. That's with a bed full of tools.
Those old VW diesels were great. I had 2 cars and a P/U. The 50 mpg + was great delivering pizzas while going to college.
Loved the P/U but a little tight in the cab.
I think they are making a new P/U. Saw an ad for one, but of course not sold in the US.
A CC 4x4 with 6 1/2' bed with the new 1.9L turbo diesel would probably be a good seller. - Bionic_ManExplorer

It was one of the slowest rigs that the TFL Truck crew had tested, but if mileage is the priority, this looks like the rig. If you gotta have a diesel midsize, this is the truck for you.
Personally, 185hp in a nearly full sized truck ain't my cup of tea. Neither is a $45 K midsize truck. That diesel will never pay for itself, ever, and bad seats are unforgivable.
I will give you one thing. At least you are consistent in your hatred of diesels..... - RobertRyanExplorer

This little grocery getter gets a 31 mpg on a 100 mile test. Not too shabby. Don't know the towing/GCWR spec on these so I really don't know if it's a viable puller.

That low payload, what 1500lbs? is going to restrict it as far as towing
It will not be able to do this
Or this with the same capacity Diesel, but vastly increased frame and component strength The 31mpg sounds reasonable for the VM Motori as it is not the most refined engine around. - HybridhunterExplorerIt was one of the slowest rigs that the TFL Truck crew had tested, but if mileage is the priority, this looks like the rig. I've looked at the Colorado / Canyon multiple times. Nice truck, but the seats suck.
There's a test drive article in the newest edition of Trailer Life - they said the same thing about the seats.
The forum for these truck has a huge thread of people complaining about the seats too.
Why is this story a true story or maybe it is the first seat made for a vehicle. Not really but sometimes it seems to be this way.
