2022 F-150 Can Not install aftermarket brake controller!!!!!

You want the Ford controller, the reason they have to flash the PCM is because of the anti-sway software. The computer uses input from all suspension and powertrain sensors to detect sway and apply the TT brakes as needed, something you will never get with an aftermarket unit, as good as the P3 is.

I agree you would think if you have the trailer connector it would have the controller...maybe the chip shortage played a factor and it got shipped without it? At any rate, with the $$ you have wrapped up in that new truck, spend a few $$ extra to get the Ford controller and have it programmed in, you will never gat the level of performance otherwise. Write the check and enjoy your new truck!

Side note, did you see the video posted here of another forum member taking his 7200 lb TT up Monteagle grade in TN with his little 2.7? Really impressive performance! Hard to say, but it pulled better than my old Suburban with the 8.1L!

To your point, a new truck, if it didn't come with a pig tail to wire onto a brake controller to plug into the truck harness, you're probably correct in it not being plug n play for aftermarket controllers.
Again, if it has a simple, physical brake light switch (which idk anymore, could be integrated into the system somewhere), it's not difficult, just more time consuming to hard wire in your own controller.

Well, if it's true that there is no plug n play harness for an aftermarket controller, then see if there is a physical brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. If there is, you're in luck, just have to do it old school and wire up the +, -, trigger (wire to brake switch) and brake lead to light connector in back.

While it seems silly, I can see this happening, as "most" trucks seem to come with a factory brake controller for several years now.

Bean counters counting beans, everywhere they can shave off a 1/4 inch of wiring. I would have to ask, did you check and see if there's a brake switch wire to tap into to activate the after market brake controller? The others are just +, - and the blue wire to the back 7 pin receptacle.
